Two research organizations in the Philippines, HB&A International Research and Asia Research Organization, teamed up to conduct a survey. They deployed experienced interviewers across Metro Manila and used a representative sample of 500 respondents. The survey found that most respondents were Catholic, aged 34 or younger, married, and had children. It also assessed awareness and opinions regarding reproductive health, sex education, contraceptives, and the proposed RH Bill.
Survey on Exploitation of Women - Oct 15, 2014pwhorrocks
Survey on men's attitudes and understanding about sexual exploitation of women conducted by Greenwald & Associates in October, 2014. The survey sought to identify whether men understand the problem of sexual exploitation and the scope of it. The basic conclusions are that men see sexual exploitation as a problem, they believe that men's attitudes about women contribute to the problem, but they have limited knowledge on the scope of the problem.

FALL HOLIDAY RECIPE DISCUSSION ASSIGNMENT (50 POINTS POSSIBLE)
You are required to price out the cost of your favorite Winter Holiday Recipe for a minimum of 8 people. You must provide the complete recipe and the current cost of the recipe for each ingredient and the total cost of the dish once it is completed. Make this a fun exercise. Think back to the things you loved as a child growing up or new traditions you have made yourself. If you need inspiration there are many online resources. Your main ingredients must be from scratch. You can use things like onion soup mix and canned soup if necessary to complete your full recipe. However, I do not want recipes made from only boxed cake mixes or boxed Jell-O (even if they are fun to make). You may make an appetizer, main course, desert or even a special drink that you are fond of. Remember that you must come up with the current cost of the ingredients, the total cost of direct labor (minimum wage in this case is $20.00 per hour) and total manufacturing overhead (in this case it is $10.00 per hour). I am looking forward to making your recipes.

Preconception Gender Selection1
John A. Robertson, School of Law, University of Texas at Austin
Safe and effective methods of preconception gender selection through ow cytometric separation
of X- and Y-bearing sperm could greatly increase the use of gender selection by couples contem-
plating reproduction. Such a development raises ethical, legal, and social issues about the impact
of such practices on offspring, on sex ratio imbalances, and on sexism and the status of women.
This paper analyzes the competing interests in preconception gender selection, and concludes that
its use to increase gender variety in a family, and possibly for selecting the gender of rstborn,
might in many instances be ethically acceptable.
Advances in genetics and reproductive technology
present prospective parents with an increasing
number of choices about the genetic makeup of
their children. Those choices now involve the use
of carrier and prenatal screening techniques to
avoid the birth of children with serious genetic dis-
ease, but techniques to choose nonmedical charac-
teristics will eventually be available. One
nonmedical characteristic that may soon be within
reach is the selection of offspring gender by pre-
conception gender selection (PGS).
Gender selection through prenatal diagnosis
and abortion has existed since the 1970s. More re-
cently, preimplantation sexing of embryos for
transfer has been developed (Tarin and Handyside
1993; The Ethics Committee of the American So-
ciety of Reproductive Medicine 1999). Yet prena-
tal or preimplantation methods of gender selection
are unattractive because they require abortion or a
costly, intrusive cycle of in vitro fertilization (IVF)
and embryo discard. Attempts to separate X- and

Adolescent care seeking behaviors summary of focus group discussionsHFG Project
To strengthen the findings of the quantitative survey described in the main report, a separate team consisting of Moderator and notes taker held focus group discussions (FGDs) to get more in-depth, qualitative information. FGDs were conducted with married adolescent girls, their husbands, unmarried adolescent girls, and unmarried adolescent boys in same two districts of Madhya Pradesh (MP) and Odisha, the states where the quantitative survey was carried out. Most FGDs were done in villages other than those surveyed; the exception was that FGDs with husbands of married adolescent girls were conducted in the same village where married adolescent girls had been interviewed in the qualitative survey.

Understanding the vocabulary of health insurance helps in selecting and using coverage effectively. eHealthInsurance commissioned a national study to determine public awareness of select health insurance terminology and the specifics of health insurance coverage. Americans admit to a health insurance vocabulary deficit.
Only a fourth (23%) feel they are very sure of what the terminology used in their health insurance policy actually means.
A third are somewhat sure of what the terminology actually means (32%).
One-fourth are not very sure (13%) or have no idea (10%) what the terminology used in their health insurance policy means.
One-fifth report they don’t have health insurance (21%).
The public demonstrates its lack of familiarity with health insurance terminology by not knowing what some of the key abbreviations stand for.
Only one-third of Americans (36%) can volunteer that HMO stands for health maintenance organization.
Only one-fifth (20%) recall that PPO stands for Preferred Provider Organization.
Only one out of nine (11%) recalls that HSA stands for Health Savings Account.
When asked how sure they were with some of the specifics of their health insurance policy, most people said they were very sure of the amount of their co-payment (61%), but half or fewer were very sure they knew the amounts of other basic elements of their coverage:
Half said they were very sure of what they paid for their health insurance premiums (50%).
45% were very sure of their annual deductible.
41% were very sure of the level of their plan’s co-insurance.
35% were very sure of their maximum annual out-of-pocket costs.
For each of these items, one-fifth indicated that the questions were not relevant since they did not have health insurance (21%).
