ISLAM VS. CHRISTIANITY

     HISTORY 150
**ISLAM VS. CHRISTIANITY***

In the later 16th century, the Mediterranean was the center of
civilization and a great battle took place for mastery of it. Some
decades before the Turks had taken over Constantinople and what
was left of the eastern Roman Empire. Under a set of extraordinary
gifted sultans, they then advanced by land and sea. However, the
Pope tried to organize a defense and from here on it was Christianity
                                vs. Islam.
****ISLAM VS. CHRISTIANITY***

They are the two largest religions in the world along with Jews.
                       THE MAJOR DIFFERENCES
Islam refutes the idea that Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross. They
believe that God spared his messenger from such an “ignominious” death
and later took him up to himself.
On the other hand, Christians believe that the death of Jesus on the cross in
the focal point of all that they believe. They only way for man to be
reconciled to a Holy God is for the ultimate price to be paid. Christians
believe that Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price by shedding his blood.
*** ISLAM VS. CHRISTIANITY***

Islam is monotheist. The first phrase in the Declaration of the
Faith states: “I bear witness that there is no God but the
Almighty God and that Mohammad is a messenger of God.
With relation to Christianity, the Christina scriptures, both the
New and the Old Testaments, teach that the Godhead consist of
three people in one: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
ISLAM VS. CHRISTIANITY

Islam considers Jesus a Prophet just like Moses, Abraham and
Noah. Also, Jesus Christ was a created being; he is just like
                            Adam
According to Christians, Jesus was more than a Prophet; he is
God. Also, Jesus Christ was pre-existent to creation.

HOWEVER, BOTH GREE THAT JESUS MIRACULOUSLY
           WAS BORN OF A VIRGIN.
ISLAM VS. CHRISTIANITY

Islam rejects the doctrine of original sin while the Bible teaches
that man is born into sin.
Islam- they believe that salvation comes only through Allah and
only those who obey Allah and Mohammed his prophet can
                        enter into heaven.
Christians- Salvation comes only through Jesus Christ.
ISLAM VS. CHRISTIANITY

Islam denies the crucifixion of Jesus; Jesus never died.
According to this religion, salvation must be earned
Christians- Jesus died and rose again. Salvation comes only
                  through faith and grace.
