1) The class measured temperatures on the Texas A&M campus and compared them to rural temperatures to identify the campus' urban heat island effect. 2) On most days, campus temperatures were 1-2 degrees warmer than rural areas, with some locations up to 4 degrees warmer. 3) Parking lots and areas with more sun exposure showed the highest temperature differences of up to 6 degrees warmer, due to absorbed radiation from pavement and lack of shade.
