Introduce them into the Smart Building Technology (SBT) Program. Summarize Home Automation, defining lighting and Controls. Explain programming and demonstrate what we have learned by programming with the LOR.
Smart Technology is an evolving environment making installations, updates, and service constant. SBT professionals combine computers, electronics, and design with strong customer service skills to wire new construction or retro fix existing structures to include the latest in Smart Home Technology.
In SBT you will learn Applied Electronics, Audio/Video systems, Blueprints and Construction methods, Computer principals and networks, Energy Management and lighting controls, Integration Design and Implementation, Security/Access Controls and Surveillance, Structured wiring systems.
SBT graduates find fields in Construction, Equipment designers and manufactures, Home Theater installers, Security Companies, Technology Sales companies, Telecommunications corporations, Utility companies, and much more.

Home automation links all your systems in your home allowing them to communicate. It allows you to easily access anything integrated in your home from anywhere. Provide some examples; automatic control locks, thermostats, Irrigation systems…leading into lighting controls.

Two home automation products we use in SBT are X-10 which allow devices to communicate through power lines, and Z-wave which control lighting and more though Radio Frequency (RF) waves.
The Omni IIe is a product we work with in SBT. The Omni IIe is a powerful home automation and security system that provides you with enhanced comfort, safety, convenience and energy savings by coordinating lighting, heating and air, security, scenes and messaging based on activity and schedules.
Light O Rama is a hardware and software solution that allows you to control incandescent and LED Christmas lights in many different ways. The products that we will be using today are the Control Box, Wireless connectors to link the signals of the programming sequences to the lights, an RF transmitter to send the music to the stereos Radio Station, and the Light O Rama Software where we will do all the programming for the lights.
Programming is a way of creating a list of instructions for a machine to perform those certain tasks. We will be programming with the Light O Rama Software application known as the LOR Sequence Editor.
As each square hits a color a light will light. The boxes are labeled to the device it controls, such as left window, these are known as the programs channels.
The blue wave at the top where the program counts in tenths of a second, this is the rhythm of the music or the songs highs and lows, this is known as the sound wave generator.
Top right button labeled tracks shows track one, which shows all the individual lights and sets of string lights, and track two, which shows all the ribbons.
Light O Rama products are used not only around Christmas time they are used all over the world. They are installed by companies for entertainment in amusement parks, concert halls, malls, zoos, and the list continues.
