God created the heavens, earth, light, day and night, land and sea. Living creatures were created to fill the oceans, skies, and land. God created humans to have dominion over nature. However, unchecked population growth and consumption are jeopardizing the planet through pollution, resource depletion, and climate change. Urgent action is needed to transition to renewable energy and create a more sustainable and just relationship between humanity and the environment before irreparable damage is done.
Institut Aspen France is a nonprofit organization based in Lyon, France that hosts international conferences and seminars on major economic, social, and political issues. It aims to facilitate informal discussions between leaders from different fields and regions to address challenges of the time. Recent events discussed Europe-US relations and challenges from Russia, Iran, and energy supplies. Other events addressed the impact of globalization on religions and how science and technology affect areas like health and the economy. The organization also publishes a quarterly journal and works to broaden its outreach and membership.
The BIOVALE project aims to set up a biodiesel production chain in Brazil's vulnerable semi-arid region to promote sustainable development, poverty alleviation, and social inclusion. A consortium of entities will organize the production from growing Jatropha plants to extracting oil. The end goal is to establish a socially responsible biodiesel industry in partnership with local communities and organizations, providing income opportunities while meeting energy needs in a renewable way.

1) While GDP has significantly increased over the last 50 years in the UK, a new measure called the Measure of Domestic Progress (MDP) that factors in environmental and social costs has struggled to increase and has even decreased at times.
2) When environmental and social costs are considered, the data shows that despite GDP growth, people's quality of life and well-being has not improved and these costs have substantially increased over the same time period.
3) The document argues that achieving a better quality of life means meeting social, environmental, resource, and economic goals simultaneously, which governments have so far failed to do as indicated by the divergence between GDP and MDP trends.
Phishing involves sending emails falsely claiming to be from legitimate companies to trick users into revealing private information. The emails direct users to bogus websites that steal their passwords, credit card numbers, and other details. Over 1.2 million US computer users lost $929 million to phishing from 2004 to 2005. UK losses from phishing-related banking fraud almost doubled from 2004 to 2005. Anti-phishing measures aim to help users identify real websites and block access to known phishing sites.
Dr. Sascha Lafeld gave a presentation on the financial sector's perspective on climate policy beyond 2012. He discussed that financial institutions are increasingly recognizing the risks of climate change. While the Kyoto Protocol and EU ETS have established frameworks for reducing emissions cost-effectively, long-term policy certainty is needed to encourage investment in low-carbon technologies. Looking ahead, Lafeld recommends setting a long-term target of limiting global warming to 2°C, providing early guidance on post-2012 policy, and fostering mechanisms like carbon markets and renewable energy targets to reduce emissions at lowest cost.

The document discusses how nothing is impossible and provides examples of ambitious infrastructure projects completed in Russia, such as a bridge connecting mainland Russia to Sakhalin Island and a power plant built on permafrost in under two years, demonstrating Russia's ability to complete large, complex projects.
The document provides an overview of the US housing market in 2007. It summarizes housing data and home sales trends from various reports between April and July 2007. The key points are that existing home sales were down while new home sales increased, inventories of homes for sale were growing, foreclosures were increasing, and the weak housing market was expected to continue dragging on the broader economy through the end of the year. Home prices were also declining in many markets across the country.
Russia has a unique culture that values community and bringing people together. Extended families often live together in multi-generational households, sharing meals and celebrating holidays and life events as one big family. The survey of over 2,000 MBA students found that:
1) Most students plan to seek socially responsible employment, with 79% seeking it at some point in their career and 59% immediately after graduation.
2) The majority of students think social and environmental topics should be integrated into business school curriculum, with 78% agreeing CSR should be part of core classes.
3) Close to nine in ten students believe business should consider social and environmental impacts and work to benefit society, though only 18% think most companies currently do.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

The temple and the sanctuary around were dedicated to Asklepios Zmidrenus. This name has been known since 1875 when an inscription dedicated to him was discovered in Rome. The inscription is dated in 227 AD and was left by soldiers originating from the city of Philippopolis (modern Plovdiv).
