1. Farmers of Brazil are an agricultural powerhouse
With more than 6 million agricultural enterprises, Brazil
doesn’t only have the land base and type to produce vast
quantities of food, but also the entrepreneurial spirit. Over the
past decade Brazil has risen to the fore as a supplier of many
agricultural products, from sugar cane to beef to soy beans.
Today Brazil is the largest producer of sugarcane in the world
at 720 million tons per annum, making up nearly half the
global production of 1.7 billion tonnes of sugar, occupying
nearly 24 million hectares of land. Interestingly, if all of
Brazil’s sugarcane was converted into fuel ethanol it would be
able to fill 64 million cars from its annual production.
