Town & Country Club | Saint Paul | Minnesota This board was entered in the Idea Fair at the 2014 Club Managers Association of America World Conference. Saint Paul based Town and Country Club provides a full-service club experience to Members. Founded in 1888, Town and Country Club is currently celebrating its 125th anniversary. Members enjoy Golf, Tennis, Swimming, Fitness and Dining facilities. The club is private, member-owned, and home to Minnesota’s first golf course. Town & Country Club's banquet facilities are available for weddings, business meetings and special events.

Background
Our Club emphasizes locally
sourced and organic food. We
grow some of our own produce,
but also supplement much of it
from our local farmers markets.
Sustainability is an important
cause in our community and we
expect our staff be educated
on the process and share their
knowledge with members.
Farmers Market
with the GM
Challenge
To provide a fun and interesting
way to educate employees on
our food sources and encourage
their involvement and support of
our local sourcing of flowers,
produce and other foods.
Solution
Shop the farmers market with the
GM. Periodically throughout the
year, staff members are invited to
go with the GM, Vincent Tracy to
the local farmers market.
Employees enjoy breakfast with
the GM and are given shopping
lists from the Chef. The staff then
spends time shopping the market
for produce, both for their
personal use and to bring back
to the Club. They also purchase
fresh flowers from the market to
use throughout the Club.
Results
The farmers market with the GM is well
attended and provides a fun,
educational experience for employees.
They return to the Club with a smile, a
full belly and a better understanding of
local food sourcing!
