FAQ’s
 1. How many miles are the races?
       a. Most junior high meets are 2 miles long, but we will run in a couple of 5k
             (3.1 miles) events.
 2. What paperwork do I have to complete in order to be on the team?
       a. First of all, students must have a physical completed in order to compete.
             Physicals are only good for one calendar year be for they need to be
             renewed. Students will also have to have a completed athletic packet,
             which I will hand out before the season starts.
 3. How many miles will students run in practice?
       a. The distances we run vary any where between 1 – 4 miles. We will have
             specific days that are devoted to just building up speed by running shorter
             days, and there will be other days that we will work on endurance and run
             much longer distances.
 4. Can my student still participate in XC if they don’t select athletics as an elective?
       a. Absolutely, we typically have students that are not enrolled in XC but still
             participate in after school practices and all the scheduled meets.

 5. Can 7 graders run on the team?
       a. 7th graders are always welcome; we had about five 7th graders run with us
             the previous season.
 6. Can my student participate on more than one athletic team at Woodland?
       a. Typically yes, but there are exceptions. Participating in other fall sports
             (football, volleyball, and cheer/dance) is usually not allowed just because
             of conflicting schedules.
 7. Will there be after school practice?
       a. There will be some after school practice; although no more than two a
             week will be held….more information on this once we get closer to the
             start of season.
 8. Does everyone get to run at meets?
       a. Everyone will get to run at cross country meets; there is no limit to the
             amount of entries you can have.
 9. How are cross country meets scored?
       a. The only times that count at meet are the top five runners for your team.
             The finishing positions of the top five runners from a team determine how
             you score how you did as a team.
