This document provides information for the 2014 cross country season including coaching staff, practice times, meet schedules, and volunteer opportunities. Practice will be held Monday through Friday from 3:30-4:45PM with advanced runners practicing until 5PM. A schedule is provided for upcoming meets along with details on race times, locations, and transportation. Parents are asked to volunteer at athletic events and sign up through VolunteerSpot.

2. General Guidelines
 Coaching Staff : Royston Dillon, Jeff Raab, and Amy Pope Raab

 All athletes are expected to attend practice each day unless they have
communicated with the coaches prior to an absence
 Practice generally runs from 3:30-4:45, advanced runners will typically
run until 5PM
 Practice will be held Monday – Friday, unless otherwise instructed
 Thank you to Janet Peterson for volunteering to be our Varsity Team
Parent. We are still in need of a team parent for the JV Team

3. General Guidelines Continued
 A bus will take athletes to all meets from school – parents
may pick their children up from the meets or at SPS once
we’ve returned.
 Athletes may ride on the bus from SPS or travel with parents
to meets that are not on school days
 If you plan to meet the team at the race, please plan to
arrive at least 1 hour prior to your child’s race time
 The team will participate in a service project at some point
during the season. All athletes are strongly encouraged to
participate if at all possible. Details TBA

4. Booster Club
 This year the Booster Club is asking ALL parents to
volunteer at an athletic event during each season they have
a child participating in a sport. Following are the instructions
for signing up.

5. Cross Country Specifics
 All athletes will run a 5K race at each meet, unless
otherwise specified
 The top 7-10 runners of each gender will run in the Varsity
race – this number is determined by the race host and may
be different for each race. All others will run in the JV race
 Uniforms will be distributed prior to the first meet and must
be returned at the end of the season in order to avoid the
$150 non-returned uniform fee
 We will be ordering a casual team t-shirt (approx. $10) if
your child is interested – details will be communicated via
email

6. XC Continued
 Athletes may leave each meet with a parent once they have
completed their race, however we encourage them to stay
as long as possible to cheer on teammates who may be
running in later races
 If your child is leaving the meet with you, please be sure to
sign out on the clipboard in the team tent area
 Any athletes not picked up at meets will return to SPS for
pick up
 Students riding the bus from meets will have access to a
phone with which to call home on our way back to SPS
 Students may leave the meet with another parent with
written/emailed permission

7. Meet Specifics

 Any students who wish to drive to meets MUST have a
driving permission form on file with the Athletic Office

8. 9/11 IRCS
 Will be held at Indian Rocks Christian School
 Bus will leave campus at 3PM
 All JV run at 5:00 – 2 Mile Race

 Varsity Boys 6:00

 Bus will leave Shorecrest at 2:45
 All athletes will run 2 Mile course beginning at 4PM
 Bus will return to Shorecrest around 5:30
 Upper school runners WILL still have practice

11. 9/25 Boca Ciega High School
Invitational
 Will be run at Walter Fuller Park
 Times - TBA
 Middle school runners may attend the meet and run the
5K course, or they may take the day off. Please be sure
to communicate your child’s choice prior to the meet
date.

12. 10/3 Flrunners.com @ Chain of
Lake Park in Titusville
 Athletes will be dismissed from class at 9AM
 Please send money for lunch and dinner
