This document discusses experiences with using communication technologies to support knowledge sharing and management across several organizations: 1) The Countryside Agency in the UK found that facilitation is key to knowledge management using ICTs and that the technology itself is not as important. 2) At the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, knowledge sharing requires building a community, not just a tool. 3) At the UN World Food Programme, business processes and trust between management and staff are essential for internal communications tools to work effectively.
