The document discusses exploring technology to improve the livelihoods of craftsmen in India. It begins with an introduction and literature review covering challenges faced by craftsmen like lack of market access, skills, and funds. It then outlines a primary study conducted with Bagru printers involving interviews and analysis of their block printing process, marketing system, and problems. Several concepts are proposed, including an online marketplace platform accessible via mobile phones to help craftsmen list and sell products, an information helpline, and facilitating craft tours for additional income. The concepts are further developed into prototypes of a mobile app and website to connect craftsmen directly with consumers.
20171107 plastic maker hubs overview for xe marketplace_for truusTruus Huisman
Plastic Maker Hubs aims at tackling the wicked and highly critical problem of plastic waste from the source. We believe the problem is rooted in miscalculated value: negative externalities are not priced in waste, waste pickers valuable work is not reflected in their income, and consumers do not have an opportunity to spend her money on a 'better' plastic. Our contribution to the solution is a series of small-scale hubs/workshops where waste-pickers convert plastic waste into a range of design products such as coasters, notebooks, wall clocks, furniture etc. These products embed principles of fair trade & circular economy, tapping into a huge global market of conscious consumers, both B2B and B2C. We aim at an holistic upliftment of the waste-pickers' communities & livelihoods, in terms of more income, dignified work and status.
The main motto of this topic is to study the knowledge society and its constraints and issues for Indian Craftspeople.

Putting the SPARK into Virtual Training.pptxCynthia Clay
This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.

4. Exploring technology for improving livelihood of Craftsmen
Artisans generally lack knowledge of and access to means of increasing quality and productivity.
Craftsmen generally suffer from weak marketing, lack of negotiation power and lack of funds.
A major disadvantage of this unorganized sector is the total lack of civic, professional and social service
infrastructure.
The craft producer has little means of protecting individual creative innovations or traditional community knowledge.
The exact ratio between the amount a crafts producer is paid for an item at source and the final selling price of that
item is huge, little of the profit reaches the hand of the creator.
When they do have the opportunity to interact directly with a buyer, the problems multiply.

5. Exploring technology for improving livelihood of Craftsmen
To increase the income of crafts producers, the requirements are adaptation of skills and products to meet new market
requirements and improvement in market access and supply.
To sustain the traditional skill base and to protect the artisans’ traditional knowledge resources, the priority is
development and implementation of appropriate IPR legislation.
Adapting traditional skills to new products for changing markets. This adaptation can be accomplished in many areas
in India, including fashion, home furnishings and tourism.
Repositioning skills and products for upscale markets that appreciate and are willing to pay premiums for handcrafted
quality and character.
