This document summarizes an expert evaluation of the Finder Advisor tool, which aims to help small business owners find face-to-face advisory services. The evaluation finds several issues with the tool's strategic intent, conceptual design, user interface, and accessibility. Key problems include failure to clearly communicate that it focuses on in-person advisors; lack of relevance to users' business locations; inconsistent navigation; and not working for some users due to JavaScript dependencies. The evaluation provides detailed recommendations to address these and other usability problems.

3. Additionally, due to the nature of the data displayed in both fields a representation where all the available categories could be seen in a glimpse would be preferred to avoid user stress (e.g. checkboxes, radio buttons).

4. Hover state and selected state colours for territory selection should be different.

5. It is recommended to place the Search Button at the bottom right (end of eye screen scan path) and make it more relevant and usable through size (Fitt’s Law).

6. In the Results Page the first toolbar brings confusion. It makes reference to the first type of results, but includes general tool functionalities and its visual cue indicates that oversees the whole current content (it extends over the map).

7. It is unclear whether the sorting functionality placed in such bar makes reference to all the results or just the first type.

8. The distinction between “normal” and national advisors in not natural, affects and hinders the result display and appears to be answering to Company policies or structures. Results should be displayed consistently in one section and that information should be part of its details (whether in the results or in the Details page).

9. The difference of the “coloured icon” results as opposed to the “white icon” results is not clear. The colour difference doesn’t give any feedback not relates to any known pattern and the initial cluttering of the map plus the number of results hidden by the scroll don’t allow for natural, immediate inference.

10. A tool that bases its strength and attractiveness in map displayed results should use up as much map space as possible. The result map has a fixed width designed to address a specific resolution. This not only diminishes its impact and purpose but goes straight against the general layout philosophy of the page that adapts and flows with the whole available width.Control, feedback and predictability <br />The interaction pattern is broken in the Results Page by allowing two different behaviours. A click on the main link for a “coloured” result will center the map on the advisor location. A click on a “white” result main link will take the user to the Details page.<br />For a same Category and Industry search the results for National Advisors differ between different states. <br />Error prevention and management<br />The error messages in the Search page appear duplicated, and as there is only one type of error situation the “Please complete all mandatory fields” message is irrelevant.<br />The red asterisk to denote required fields is a convention but the user would benefit from copy pointing it out.<br />Accessibility<br />The tool won’t work for user agents lacking Javascript or having it disabled.<br />
