“For God so loved the
world that he gave his
one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him
shall not perish but have
eternal life.”
John 3:16
What kind of love
does He have for us?
He gave His only Son
to die. This is how
much God loves you
and me.
“For all have
sinned and fall
short of the glory of
God,”
Romans 3:23
“For the wages of sin
is death, but the gift
of God is eternal
life in Christ Jesus
our Lord.”
Romans 6:23
“Having canceled the
charge of our legal
indebtedness, which stood
against us and condemned
us; he has taken it away,
nailing it to the cross.”
Colossians 2:14
Let us look at the actual
experience of Christ:
1. He began to be
sorrowful.
“His sweat fell to the ground like
great drops of blood.”
Luke 22:44
2. He was blindfolded,
spit, struck and slapped.
“The men who were guarding Jesus
began mocking and beating him.
They blindfolded him and demanded,
“Prophesy! Who hit you?” And they
said many other insulting things to
him.”
Luke 22:63-65
3. He was flogged.
“Therefore, I will punish
him and then release him.”
Luke 23:16
4. He was crowned a crown of
thorns.
“They stripped him and put a scarlet
robe on him, 29 and then twisted
together a crown of thorns and set it
on his head. They put a staff in his
right hand. Then they knelt in front of
him and mocked him. “Hail, king of
the Jews!” they said.”
Matthew 27:28 – 29
5. He was crucified.
“They came to a place
called Golgotha (which
means “the place of the
skull”).”
Luke 23:33
