Summary of Experience for Andy Flett
Items mentioned here are “more specific” descriptions of experience referred to within my current
relevant CV document. They provide explanations of “acronyms” and abbreviations used within the
computing industry – especially for people who may not be familiar with them, and for more detailed
explanations of previously referred to items.
GENERAL NETWORKING  IP Addressing using DHCP and STATIC addresses
 Subnet configuration
 Network Address Translation (NAT)
 Address resolution using mainly DNS (and other
methods)
 Cable systems and distribution
 General Local Area Networking (LAN) methods
 TCP/IP and UDP type protocols
 Wide Area Networking (WAN) methods
 Installation and Troubleshooting of the above
ROUTERS & SWITCHES  Configuration for Remote Maintenance
 Basic “get up and running” configurations, allowing
subsequent remote final configuration
 Routing Tables
 VLAN Configuration
 Spanning Tree Algorithms
 Access Control Lists (ACL)
 Installation and Troubleshooting of the above
“WINTEL” COMPUTERS
(including Servers, Desktop,
Laptop and Tablet models)
 “Building from scratch” requirements
 “Corporate Configurations” and requirements
 Local and Group Policies
 Active Directory configuration and maintenance
 Networking
 “Cloud” computing
 Virtualisation
 Backup and Security
 Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID)
configurations
 Remote Control (various methods)
 Hardware maintenance/replacement
 Installation and Troubleshooting of the above
“OTHER” COMPUTERS such
as UNIX/LINUX/ANDROID
types
 Similar to as above (where applicable) but to a lesser
extent
SCRIPTING  Windows Command Line (DOS?) commands
 UNIX Command Line commands
 Windows Management Interface Console commands
 Visual Basic Scripting (VBS)
 Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
 HTML Applications (HTA)
 Windows Powershell
 Perl
 Methods of amalgamating all of the above in to
repeatable configuration or reporting routines
COMPUTER LANGUAGES  Basically as described within normal CV document,
also including “Database Query” languages (various
SQL type variants, and proprietary ones) plus
application specific ones (e.g. AUTOIT = a way of
automating/repeating “Windows Actions” routines –
enabling elimination of repetitive tasks)
