Excretory System Projects
You will use TRASH to make a model of an excretory system in groups of 5. Your project MUST
include kidneys, ureters, a bladder, a urethra, renal veins, renal arteries, an inferior vena
cava (try to make this blue), and an abdominal aorta (try to make this red). Try to show
the nephrons inside one of the kidneys if you want some extra points. You MUST also
label and show the function of each organ.
Your project should be fixed onto REUSED future board.
The point of this project is to REUSE things we don’t need. Try not
to buy anything, but find trash you see laying around.
Example materials are coke cans for the kidneys, old bicycle
tire tubes for the inferior vena cava and abdominal aorta, a
small plastic water bottle for the bladder. You can use straws
from your lunch (wash them!), old pens that don’t work
anymore, whiteboard markers, and you could use a lot of
small trash to make one big organ. The point is to be creative,
to have fun and to make a project and some art at the same
time. Science and art do NOT have to be separate!
Do a Google image search for “trash art” to get some ideas.
NO SMELLY TRASH or FOOD TRASH, and wash the things you use so
they don’t smell later.
Due dates:
8/1 – July 4th
8/2 – July 3rd
8/3 – July 2nd
8/4 – July 1st
