exams are based on various syllabus and are mostly conducted for the
higher level of education. Various entrance examinations in India are
listed below:
1. Common Aptitude test (CAT)
2. Management Aptitude Test (MAT)
3. All India Engineering Entrance Examinations (AIEEE)
4. Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)
5. All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT)
Common Admission Test (CAT)
CAT is ranked as the most Difficult Test, it stands for Common Admissions
Test, it is used primarily only in India, it is one of the few tests which leads
to Group Discussion and Personal Interview which is perhaps even tougher,
and it success can almost Single handedly guarantee a Great Job and a
Great Life.
This is the only gateway by which A-grade MBA colleges in India accept
candidates. Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) is the apex body that
conducts CAT entrance exams.
Other than the IIM’s, other B-schools that take CAT scores are NIRMA,
MICA, the NIT’s, IMT Ghaziabad, SP Jain Mumbai, etc. CAT exam is
conducted every year. In order to appear the CAT exam, the applicant
should have a degree with at least 50% marks. Final year students can also
apply. The entrance exam includes areas such as problem solving, critical

Management Aptitude Test
(MAT)
Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardized test being administer
since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for
admission to MBA and allied programs. Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD
approved MAT as a national level test in 2003. Any B-School - national or
international - can consider MAT Score as an admission input based on the
Score Cards issued to the candidates. The largest test of its kind in the
nation, MAT will continue to be your passport to over 600 B-Schools across
India.
MAT is conducted by AIMA. In a year there are four MAT exams done in
February, May, September, and December. More than 500 institutions
participate with the MAT exam each year. MAT exam is carry out in written
and computer-based exams. An average student can easily score more than
80 percentile in MAT exam. But only those candidates who have a score

India. Some of the colleges accepting MAT score include Alliance Business
Academy (Bangalore), Christ College Institute of Management, Bangalore,
Indian Institute of Finance (Delhi), IMS (Ghaziabad), BIMTECH (Noida) etc.
All India Engineering Entrance
Examination (AIEEE)
The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) was an
examination organized by the Central Board of Secondary
Education (CBSE) in India. Introduced in the year 2002, this national
level competitive test is for admission to various under-graduate
engineering and architecture courses in institutes accepting the AIEEE
score, mainly 30 National Institute of Technology (NITs) and 5 Indian
Institute of Information Technology (IIITs). The examination was
generally held on the last Sunday of April and results were announced in
the last week of May or the first week of June. Candidates were ranked
on an all-India basis and state basis. Thus, they have an All India Rank
(AIR) and a State Rank (SR).
Joint Entrance Examination
(JEE)
JEE is an all India common engineering entrance examination of objective pattern,
which is conducted for admission in various engineering colleges and courses in
India. It is regarded internationally as one of the most challenging engineering
admission test.
In 2012, the government announced JEE examination will replaced the AIEEE and IIT-
JEE. It will consists of two parts, JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. JEE-Advanced is for
admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) while the JEE-Main exam is for
admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), centrally funded technical
institutes (CFTIs) as well as for admission to the dual degree programme. Only the
students selected in JEE Mains are eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced. Over
150,000 students are selected each year.
There are some institutes which use the score obtained in JEE Advanced as the basis
for admission. These are not participating institutes of central IIT JEE Advanced
counselling of which all IITs and ISM are members. Any student who takes admission
to IITs or ISM cannot appear for JEE-Advanced exam the next year, but the same is
not the case with IISc, IISER, RGIPT and other institutes which use JEE Advanced
