This paper proposes an evolutionary algorithm-based optimization technique for designing a PID controller for an Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) system, utilizing Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Cuckoo Search (CS) methods. The research focuses on improving the transient response of the AVR control system through a new objective function, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed tuning methods via simulation results. It compares the performance of these algorithms against traditional tuning methods, highlighting their superior efficiency in parameter optimization.
