Life was not easy! No gun, No Fishing gear. It
      was a real challenge to get foods.
Had to gather
fruits, nuts and herbs for
survival
It needs fire to cook foods –
Invention of Fire
One chilly night, sitting around it for warmth from the winter cold,
some clumsy cave man dropped his raw piece of meat into that fire
and it get cooked.
Invention of spices to preserve foods
The shells of
turtles or large
mollusks provided
a source for
cooking pots.
Inhabitants of the Tehuacan Valley began using large
stone bowls as early as 7000 BC.
Then comes the clay
pots..
The development of pottery allowed for
the creation of fireproof cooking pots in a
variety of shapes and sizes.
Uses of Coating the earthenware with some type of plant
gum, and later ceramic glazes started.
By the 17th century, it was
common for a Western
kitchen to contain a
number of skillets, baking
pans, a kettle and several
pots, along with a variety of
pot hooks and trivets.
Improvements in metallurgy during
the 19th and 20th centuries allowed
for pots and pans from metals such
as steel, stainless steel and
aluminum to be used.
