IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR
MEDIA PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP
OR CHALLENGE CONVENTIONS
 OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS?

          9 shot analysis
HOW WE USED THE INDENT

The first thing you see in our media product is the indent we made
at the start. We felt it was necessary to have this in our product as
all real media products use this In their films.
HOW WE CHALLENGED A REAL
     MEDIA PRODUCT.

We challenged a real media product when editing our piece. We decided
to go for a sepia look rather than your average back and white. We did
this because we felt we needed something to make our opening stand
out from the rest and we felt that this made our thriller original.
HOW WE USED
                    CONVENTIONS.

We decided to use candles in our thriller as they are a typical convention of a
thriller. We felt that candles would really establish the genre of our piece to our
target audience and would bring the right kind of eerie effect that we wanted
to our clip.
HOW WE USED TYPICAL
                 CAMERA WORK.

We used an overhead camera for this shot. We felt that this would work well in our
piece as it looks like this is from the ‘stalkers’ perspective, making the audience feel
more involved in our piece. The blurry effect on the clip gives off a mysterious feel.
HOW WE USED MUSIC.

This is the beginning of our piece. At the start of our piece you can hear thunder
then it leads on to orchestral piano music which carries on throughout our piece.
We felt that this is a typical convention of a thriller; it brings out the eerie and
mysterious themes that we wanted in our opening.
HOW WE DEVELOPED MUSIC

At the very last clip of our thriller you can clearly hear an alienated sound, we
used this to develop on the idea of this clip being just a thriller. Suggesting that
this thriller has a sub-genre ( supernatural thriller)
HOW WE DEVELOPED ON
      CONVENTIONS

We decided to use cut out newspapers and pictures of the stalking victim
, as this can be something that you would see in a real thriller, however we
developed on this idea by creating a shrine of the newspaper cut-outs and
the pictures of the victim, we also used red pen to circle the victims face
in the picture making it really stand out.
HOW WE USED
                     CONVENTIONS

We decided to use a typical black hoodie for costume in our piece. We felt
that if we used any other type of colour or clothing the audience may not
get the type of genre that we are using, as this hoodie/colour combination is
easily recognizable to any audience.
HOW WE USED CAMERA
             WORK.

We decided to use this high-angle shot on the stalker as we felt that it
would bring the audience in, as if they were looking over the stalkers
shoulder. This angle shows the side of the stalkers head but not the
front, making the audience question who the stalker might be, what they
look like etc.
