INTRODUCTION:-
To evaluate means to accertain the value or amount of appraisal carefully. It is
concerned with provision of learning experience, increasing the capabilities to
perform certain function.
Tools of evaluation
The tools are which anything which help to collect some information is known as
tool. In evaluation of students the tools play a important role in collection of
information about student different tools i.e. oral test, intelligence test,
aptitude test etc.
Oral test:-
it is a practice in many schools and disciplines in which an examiner
poses question to the student in spoken form. The student has to answer
the question in such a way as to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the
subject to pass the exam.
Advantage of oral test
 Allow the direct dialogic feedback
 The face to face dialogue
 Encourages in depth preparation
 Demand different skills
 It permits free response by students.
 It helps teacher to make continuous
evaluation
 Evaluate quick reaction of students
Dis advantage of oral test
 Limited number of students examined
at one time
 It does not a test a student efficiently
 Unexpected distraction
 Unfair emphasis on repeated mistakes
 Difficult to standardize
Paper and pencil testing:-it is one of the most common and
systematics may of gathering information about the learner behaviour
and performance it is a professional skill.
Paper and pencil testing is available for traditional situations.
Where compacter access is limited or controlled testing environment is
required .
Advantage of paper pencil test
 you don’t need electricity or
batteries
 Paper and pencil are easily
portable and can be used in any
setting
 You don’t have to make a hard
copy of work
 They give you a sense of purpose
 Doodling and hand drawn picture
are instantaneous.
Dis advantage of paper pencil test
 making copies of your documents
is easier
On a word processor
 You might run out of paper
pencils you have to keep
sharpening your pencils
 You can correct errors more easily
in a word processing document
 A word processor will print your
word more legibly
Achievement test:-
Any test that measure the attainment and accomplishment of an individual
after a period of training or learning.
The type of ability test that describe what a person has learned to do.
Function of achievement test:-
 it provide basis for promotion to the next grade.
 To find out where each students stand in various academic area.
 It helps in determination about the placement of the student in a particular section.
 To motivate the students before a new assignment has taken up.
 To know effectively the student is perform in theory as well as in clinical areas.
Diagnostic test :-
Diagnose means to identify determine distinguish or organize
characteristics that are individual proper.
Functions of diagnostic test:-
 Focusing attention on as any of the important ultimate objectives of education as possible
 Clarifying of educational objectives to teachers and pupils
 Determine elements of strength and weakness in the structional programme of the school
 Provide a basis for the preliminary grouping of pupils can in learning area
 To stimulate the learning activities of pupil
 Discovering special aptitude and disabilities
 Determining the difficulty of material pupil can read with profit
 To stimulate the learning achiement in objective term
 Enable the pupil to complete with their past performance record
INTELLIGENCE TEST :-
Intelligence test are psychological test that are designed to measure a variety of mental function
such as reasoning comprehension and judgement.
Intelligence test series task designed to measure capacity to make abstraction to learn and to deal
with novel situation.
Characteristics of intelligence test :
 Standardization
 Norms and percentile scores
 Reliability
 Validity
 Aptitude test
CHECK LIST :-
A check list of action items steps or element needed for a task. Each item is checked off as it is
completed uses of checklist off as it is complited
Advantage of checklist:
 Quick and easy to implement
 Provide a specific information about specific objective
 Can point towards a trend of how and when skill have been acquired by the child as well as
group of children
 Thinking skill
 Limited information only indicating presence of a skill
 Does not provide information about context
 Does not indicate child's response to different situation or provide specific example of
responses
 Can at times become unwidely because of the number of specific items
CONCLUTION :
Evaluation becomes a necessary tools in the education process, emphasis on
teacher’s evaluation of their pupils, continuous assessment , introduction of
grading in place of numerical marketing . Uses of evaluation as feedback for
improvement of teaching and learning and emphasizes shift from external
examination to internal assessment by teachers .
