Like many conventional magazine covers
the main image of my model is giving
direct address as this engages the reader
immediately drawing them in. Music
magazines such as kerrang use cover
models with direct address to the same
effect. The masthead is conventional as its
a unique font, this acts like a trademark of
the magazine, its also the largest font
making it instantly recognizable as a
magazine; just like a real magazine. The
coverlines on my front cover follow similar
positioning that would be on actual
magazine. All of the relevant issue
information is also present. To create my
front cover I used Photoshop to compose
it all together; a strength of this is that it
can be done to a professional level
however unless you know how to use
Photoshop professionally it may reflect
negatively in your work.
Many aspects of my contents page
follow the codes and conventions of a
regular one.
There are two sections; regular content,
which will appear weekly in every new
issue and feature content which will be
exclusive to that issue, a one-off.
Conventional magazines follow a similar
structure as my product; images which
relate to the numbered heading, a
heading and column layout. I used
quark to compose my product on
obvious advantage of this is that it gives
column layout, making it look like a real
contents page. However without a
considerable amount of help I wouldn't
have been able to use the software.
