The Channel Tunnel, also known as the Eurotunnel, is a railway tunnel that connects France and the United Kingdom under the English Channel, opening in 1994. It took over 6 years to construct starting in 1988, with over 13,000 workers digging from both the French and English ends until they finally met in the middle. The tunnel allows vehicles and trains to travel between Coquelles, France and Folkestone, UK in about 35 minutes, providing an important international transport link between the two countries.
