This study analyzes nine geography textbooks from three major Spanish publishers to evaluate the characterization of environmental education provided across primary and secondary levels in Spain. The results show that while the textbooks include some environmental content, there is much room for improvement in how environmental education is organized in the curriculum and addressed in the textbooks. Key areas for strengthening include increasing the number of pages and tasks dedicated to environmental topics, improving conceptual coverage of issues like climate change and sustainability, and promoting attitudes that encourage environmental responsibility and problem-solving. The analysis provides a baseline for ongoing work to build a more environmentally literate society in Spain.
Role of Academic Eco Clubs to Execution of National Policies on Environmental...Malhari Survase
The environmental awareness is the initial step ultimately leading to the ability to carry on responsible citizenship behavior. In view of this, the main aim is to assess the role of academic eco clubs to execution of national policies on environmental awareness among the college students. The required data and information is collected through various sources such as published books, journals, unpublished research thesis and online articles with the observations. The national policies and role of academic eco clubs in awareness and preservation of environment are objectively elaborated. With the consideration of the severity of the environment related problems the author tried to suggest the suitable remedies for the environmental awareness and sustainable development.

This presentation will highlight the use of digital learning circles and global collaboration on major world issues. Using a Wiki as a space to collaborate, students from around the world work in learning circles to, pose questions, investigate and publish answers at a global scale. The Global Teenager Project allows for highly engaging lessons that will link to the curriculum as well as the students own community. This session will provide examples of thematic learning circles grade 6- 12 and particularly highlight the journey a class of Senior students have taken. Participants will learn how to connect and start the program in their own class or school. The wiki will be shared, the research process and clips from web conferences made between a Toronto based school and a global partner from Kenya.

Environmental Awareness among the Students of 10th Class of Chamba Districtpaperpublications3
Abstract: Today’s adolescents are the responsible citizen of tomorrow. Their attitudes, values and awareness are going to affect the future environmental scenario significantly. It is this generation that will be taking future policy decision. It is therefore important to know the concern of these generations with reward to important issues like environmental problems. In the present work and attempt has been made to study the awareness of secondary school students regarding the environment around them. Cause of environmental degradation and about the remedial measures which can be taken to preserve the environment with the help of questionnaire, review of literature reveals that the studies of this nature are very rare. This work, therefore assumes more significance. It will also help in providing suggestions to the planners with the regards to the modifications which are needed in the curriculum. So as, to increase the awareness of the students in those areas where they are less aware or lack awareness.

Scientific results should also be disseminated to non-scientific audience. Communication and knowledge exchange are, generally, not treated as priority for scientists possibly due to lack of time, interest or reward. There are funds such as Carlos Chagas Filho Foundation for Research Support in the State of Rio de Janeiro (FAPERJ) that require knowledge exchange to non-scientific audiences as a condition for project acceptance. We conducted an environmental education activity through an active learning method in a high school of Rio de Janeiro. The aim of the game was to explain activity concepts of environmental resources management, tragedy of commons, tipping point and reproduction rate. The game was focused on fisheries, but similar concepts are used in the management of other commons such as water, air, and increasingly soils. The activity and the results are presented in a short video.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

An individual’s attitudes and behaviors towards nature are largely shaped by the values they
acquire during their education. Formal education, together with the family, the media, and peer
group, is the most significant influence on children and young people in their value formation.
8. PREVIOUS RESEARCH
• The previous literature suggests that the way
geography textbooks address environmental
education in primary and secondary education
could be improved
• These weaknesses vary enormously between
countries
• The search carried out on studies in Spain revealed
no cases in which primary and secondary
geography textbooks are analyzed together.
9. AIM This study analyzes nine primary and
secondary education textbooks in
order to see what environmental
education students receive as part of the
subject of geography across the years of
compulsory education in Spain. These
textbooks are published by three different
and main companies, which are a good
example of the adaptation of the official
curriculum

19. CONCLUSIONS
• The results show much room for improvement there is in
environmental education in Spain.
• This improvement should start from the organization of the
curriculum and its subsequent transposition into the
textbooks.
• Thus, many changes are needed if we wish to build a society
capable of effectively solving the threat of the environmental
problems that surround us.
