MATERIALS
To make this experiment, you just need:
• a tape measure
• a person
• a person who takes the measures to the other one.
The objective is to discover how the blood acts in the
body on the Earth.

HOW TO MAKE THE EXPERIMENT
Firstly, a person has to measure the circumference of the ankles
and the neck while the other one is standing up.
Secondly, the same person has to measure the same
circumferences while the other person is laying down.
Thirdly, the person has to measure the circumference of the
ankles and the neck while the other one is standing upside down.
Finally, compare all the results obtained.

RESULTS AND REMARKS

In space, in absence of gravity, the blood is spread equally all
over the body. For this reason, the pressure of the blood around
the brain is transmitted along the optical nerve into the eye and
it increases the pressure of the eye causing flashes of light. In
addiction, the flashes can also be produced by cosmic rays.
Otherwise, on the Earth the circulation of blood behaves in a
different way because of gravity. In fact, standing up the blood is
attracted to the middle of the Earth, it is more concentrated in
the ankles than in the neck.
Instead, laying down the blood spreads all over the body, so the
circumference of the neck increases while the circumference of
the ankles decreases.

We don’t know anything about space because we
have never studied it, but doing this experiment we
learnt that the blood acts according to the gravity.
So, it makes sense that the blood spreads equally
all over the body in the space.
REFLECTION

CONCLUSION
• On the Earth, the blood is attracted down by the gravity.
• In space, the blood spreads all over the body because
there’s no gravity.
• In fact, the blood rushes to the head more than normal.
• Consequently, blood in the head presses on the optical
nerve.
• Impulses of lights go straight to the brain.
