The official language is Amharic and traditional clothes include long-sleeved shirts and shawls for men and dresses called 'habesha qemis' for women. The major religions are Ethiopian Orthodox and Islam. Ethiopia has natural resources like gold and coffee which is a major export. A significant ruler was Haile Selassie who modernized Ethiopia and established the first constitution.
