Accessing and Sharing Electronic Personal Health Data.
An increasing attention has been given to personal health data (PHD) research over the last years. The rise of researchers’ interest could be attributed to the increasing amount of PHD that are stored across various databases, as a result of individuals’ rapidly- evolving digital life. Accessing and sharing PHD is essential to create personalized health services and to involve patients in the design process of these services. This paper conducts a survey of literature to present an overview of literature about accessing and sharing of PHD. This study aims to identify limitations in research and propose future directions. Sixteen studies were selected from various bibliographic databases and were classified according to three criteria: research type, empirical type and contribution type. The results provide a preliminary review with respect to access and sharing of PHD, addressing a need for more research about PHD accessibility and for solution proposals for both topics.

ABSTRACT
Objective: Our objective was to compare the change in research informed knowledge of health professionals
and their intended practice following exposure to research information delivered by either Twitter or Facebook.
Methods: This open label comparative design study randomized health professional clinicians to receive
“practice points” on tendinopathy management via Twitter or Facebook. Evaluated outcomes included knowl-
edge change and self-reported changes to clinical practice.
Results: Four hundred and ninety-four participants were randomized to 1 of 2 groups and 317 responders ana-
lyzed. Both groups demonstrated improvements in knowledge and reported changes to clinical practice. There
was no statistical difference between groups for the outcomes of knowledge change (P¼ .728), changes to clini-
cal practice (P¼ .11) or the increased use of research information (P¼ .89). Practice points were shared more by
the Twitter group (P < .001); attrition was lower in the Facebook group (P < .001).
Conclusion: Research information delivered by either Twitter or Facebook can improve clinician knowledge and
promote behavior change. No differences in these outcomes were observed between the Twitter and Facebook
groups. Brief social media posts are as effective as longer posts for improving knowledge and promoting
behavior change. Twitter may be more useful in publicizing information and Facebook for encouraging course
completion.

Patient Access to Personal Health Information Across Health Care Settings
The study aimed to characterize patient experiences accessing personal health information across different healthcare settings and understand barriers to meaningful use of electronic health records from the patient perspective. In-depth interviews and focus groups with patients found that in 2012, access times ranged from 3-30 days, with academic medical centers providing information fastest. Community hospitals relied on slower mail/fax delivery. Participants reported physical, financial, and attitudinal barriers. The findings suggest a need for improved health data access policies and technologies to better support patient self-management of chronic conditions.

Health informatics is a term that describes the acquisition, storage, retrieval, and use of healthcare information to foster better collaboration among a patient's various healthcare providers. Health informatics plays a critical role in the push toward healthcare reform. Healthcare Informatics is defined as "the integration of healthcare sciences, computer science, information science, and cognitive science to assist in managing healthcare information" (Saba & McCormick, 2015, p. 232).
Scenario
My scenario will be on reducing the rate of Hospital Readmissions in the unit I work. After reading through this week's resources, I realized a gap that needs bridging in my work unit. Norris, Hinrichs, & Brown tell us, "gaps are present between the technology and the process. Informatics can help bridge that gap. Skills needed include the understanding of data collection, storage, and extraction, in addition to an appreciation for the power of data to drive and inform practice" (2015, p. 11-12). The rate of patient readmission in my unit is overwhelming. Working in a mental health crisis and assessment can be very challenging, and it hurts to see a patient discharged after four to seven days came back the same day or the next day after discharge seeking the same help. The federal government has estimated the annual cost of Medicare readmissions to be $26 billion per year, with $17 billion considered avoidable. ("Reducing hospital readmissions: The value of analytics," 2019). The organization seems to have failed in tracking these numbers and try to figure out ways to reduce this problem.
As a nurse, I will use health informatics in the form of a spreadsheet to acquire, store, retrieve and analyze the data of those patients who have multiple admissions within three months. Doing so will help communicate and collaborate better with clinical improvement teams, doctors, and the administration to focus on specific clinical measures needed to manage baseline mental health processes and outcomes of these patients to reduce readmission. Nursing informatics blends information and knowledge, enhancing communication among health care workers, improving efficiency, and providing overall good patient outcomes (Laureate Video File. 2018).
To sum up, health informatics and Nursing Informatics are very relevant in evolving health systems. Having a nurse informaticist guiding data-driven processes, educating nurses, and validating data quality, will advance health systems beyond the data platform to reach the nursing workforce to inform decisions at the healthcare delivery frontlines in the organizations we work.
