Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
(CPR)
Key Life-Saving Techniques
Introduction to CPR
• CPR is an emergency procedure performed to
manually preserve brain function until further
measures are taken to restore spontaneous
blood circulation and breathing in a person
who is in cardiac arrest.
Basic Steps of CPR
• 1. Call for emergency help immediately.
• 2. Check for responsiveness and breathing.
• 3. Start chest compressions: Push hard and
fast in the center of the chest at a rate of 100-
120 compressions per minute.
• 4. Provide rescue breaths: After every 30
compressions, give 2 breaths.
• 5. Continue CPR until medical professionals
arrive or the person starts breathing.
Hands-Only CPR
• Hands-Only CPR involves only chest
compressions and is recommended for
untrained rescuers or when rescue breaths are
not possible.
• 1. Call emergency services.
• 2. Push hard and fast in the center of the
chest.
Importance of Early CPR and AED
Use
• Early CPR can double or triple a person’s
chance of survival after cardiac arrest.
• Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) can
help restore a normal heart rhythm in cases of
sudden cardiac arrest.
