New and Innovative
Training
There are three approaches to
training: (1) the traditional ap-
proach, (2) the experiential ap-
proach, and (3) the performance-
based approach. In the traditional
approach, the training staff de-
signs the objectives, contents,
teaching techniques, assign-
ments, lesson plans, motivation,
tests, and evaluation. The focus
in this model is intervention by the
training staff. In the experiential
approach, the trainer incorporates
experiences where in the learner
becomes active and influences
the training process. Unlike the
academic approach inherent in
the traditional model, experiential
training emphasizes real or simu-
lated situations in which the train-
ees will eventually operate. WAB
Environmental and Occupational
Health incorporate all three ap-
proaches into what is call Boot
Camp.

This course was designed with today’s safety profession in mind. It provides an
in depth review of OSHA's general industry standards and an in-depth look at
the requirements for the more frequently referenced standards and letters of in-
terpretation. It gives up to date information on how to implement the provisions
of the OSH Act in the workplace, your rights and responsibilities under the OSH
Act, what to expect from an OSHA inspection, the appeals process, written pro-
gram requirements, training requirements, and recordkeeping.
