I, along with the team of 5 people, prepared this presentation as a part of Project Leadership and Communication class in the first semester at the University of Connecticut's School of Business' Master of Science in Business Analytics and Project Management course.
It was a great experience where we culminated the ideas from the entire team, comprising of different ethnicities and religions.
We got to learn a lot of Project Leadership concepts when we studied the work done by Alan. The most impressive thing I found about him was his humor. He was so poised in the tumultuous situation, which even I want to learn more from him, and others.
In conclusion, I would like to recommend this class by Prof. Wilson to every student of the MSBAPM course here at UCONN.

Week 3 Assignment 1
Ford is an American multinational automobile company founded by Henry Ford in 1903. Firstly, the paper will also discuss the impact of globalization and technology on the Ford company. Secondly, it will further shed light on the industrial organization model and the resource-based model to assess the returns of the corporation. The paper will finally discuss the vision and mission of the company, including the impact of stakeholders on the success of the company.Globalization
According to Grant, the key element in changing an industry's profitability is in the evolution of an industry's structure. Industries around the world have changed due to globalization and maturity. Both components have contributed to competition. The competition has increased as globalization has bought firms together by shrinking the space between them and providing them with the same market (Grant, 2008). The same is true for the Ford company. Globalization means using and being a part of the world economy and profiting from it.
Companies in the global economy need ways to supply and produce automobiles that don't only cater to the needs of international clients but develop something that caters to the needs of locals. To overcome the problem of attending to local needs, Ford, for example, has created a global scale network to assemble plants to get access to the greater supply-base. Ford's partnership with Mazda, for example, has made it easy for Ford to get Mazda's well-established supply base in Thailand. Given the hassle of building local supply and the pressure, companies go through to create local content; such partnerships help companies like Ford in globalization ( (Sturgeon & Florida, 2002).
But before adjusting to the world global economy, Ford has to struggle to be a part of the globalization. The reduced restrictions in trade in the emerging market after globalization has led to a wave of investment across the globe. Before the 1970s, the companies of automobiles were dominating the market in the U.S., which was called "Big Three." But after globalization permitted foreign vehicles to enter the market, the U.S. market for automobiles changed. For example, Japanese cars that were high-quality cars and introducing new modes of manufacturing changed the industry. Ford's competition was threatened by globalization and the other two companies' restrictions in trade in the emerging market after globalization has led to a wave of investment across the globe. But after globalization permitted foreign vehicles to enter the market, the U.S. market for automobiles changed. Ford and GM A Comparison of 2 Fortune 500 CompaniesLeo de Sousa
This paper compares and contrasts two top ten Fortune 500 automotive companies: Ford Motor Company (Ford) and General Motors Corporation (GM). Through a series of strategic decisions and initiatives, Ford was able to survive the 2008-2009 global economic crisis. General Motors had similar opportunities to make strategic changes but remained entrenched in their approaches and strategy. The result was General Motors filed for bankruptcy, and had to ask the US and Canadian governments for loans in order to restart business.
Bloomfield Hills, MI, January 24, 2012 - (PressReleasePoint) - Global HeavyLift Holdings, a Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) listed (www.ccr.gov) entity with principal offices in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, is commending Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill's strong recommendation to the FAA that it fast track commercial certification of Boeing's workhorse C-17 Globemaster III strategic/tactical airlifter.
"GHH is exceptionally pleased that the Senator has demonstrated once again her unwavering support for this superlative airlifter, and the viability, if not the urgency, of establishing a U.S./NATO-controlled Heavylift industry based on very modestly modified C-17s -designated BC-17- for commercial use", says Global HeavyLift Holdings Managing Member Myron D. Stokes. "The Senator's actions are all the more notable when one considers the extraordinary efforts put forth by various parties in government and industry, both here and abroad, to kill C-17 by any means necessary."

Publisher’s note: Dr. Beckwith: I am honored that you have seen fit to acknowledge me in your presentations of today, September 3, 2011 at the G999 Conference in Philadelphia, and Friday, September 9, at the San Marino Workshop on Astrophysics and Cosmology For Matter and Antimatter, in San Marino, N. In my view, these are rather extraordinary postulations, especially the probability of extra-universal black hole gravitational origins, along with expansion beyond Hawking of Quantum Wave theory and the “quantizing” of gravity. The latter may very well lead to a thorough reexamination of our concept of space and time, and that the latter might not be so unidirectional afterall. The potential is breathtaking, as it represents steps forward in proving the existence of subspace, the possibility of concomitant multi-universiality and 5D dimensionality of black holes.
Can time manipulation and Biefeld-Brown suggested electro-gravitics as a spacecraft propulsive methodology be far behind? I think not…

As the latest news travels of another top executive falling from grace -- this time Fritz Henderson from his short-lived position as company president -- it leaves a disturbing possibility. During a conference call discussion of its latest vehicle sales numbers on December 1, the announcement was confirmed that an international search would be made to find the best replacement for Henderson. With the subtle and inexorable movement toward the East that has progressed so far, it\’s apparent a new GM leader likely could come from the ranks of its executive force native to China, making the ownership conscription almost complete. That\’s a main reason for our report.
The story unfolds in flashback with plodding and predictable regularity. The fact that some undoubtedly will feign surprise as it becomes more obvious should be an expected reaction. Having traveled a beaten trail lulled by previous pronouncements of corporate direction can have a numbing, unquestioning effect.
How the present position of GM was set in motion is an exercise in a somewhat greedy corporate strategy flanked by blinders. In a quest for expansion and untapped Asian dollars GM, several decades ago, made the bold move of seeking out a business footprint in that Communist-controlled country.
GM\’s agreement with Beijng Auto to sell core technological and intellectual property right for Saab confirms our contention GM is controlled by the China auto sector. A subsequent decision to kill the brand after Dutch automotive entity Spyker failed to complete the purchase will have, and is having, a chilling effect Sweden's national psyche, unless its government steps in and nationalizes this automotive/aerospace icon immediately.
2009/2010 Auto Industry Analysis: GM's TRANSITION TO CHINA

In clear indication of a last minute ramping up of efforts to terminate C-17 production, an amendment was issued on September 29 by those in opposition to the aircraft's continued existence.
"We were in full expectation of this move," says Myron D. Stokes, Managing Member of Global HeavyLift Holdings, LLC, a Florida incorporated, Bloomfield Hills, MI based DLA-listed firm (www.ccr.gov) , "And it is precisely why we restated our position via the 9/28 release.
"Since those opposed to C-17 continue to cite "internal DoD analyses" we ask, respectfully, that they produce same. We are, of course, cognizant of the fact that a certain mythological place of intense heat would be altered by cryogenic intervention before such data were produced. Short story: It does not exist."
It should be noted that while we have the greatest respect for the offices of the SECDEF, SECAF and those to whom they report, we feel it necessary to again invoke the wisdom, past and present, of DoD personnel such as the late VADM Arthur K. Cebrowski, whose vast experience and knowledge cannot be ignored. In this instance, we feel it appropriate to highlight the conclusions of decorated U.S. Army 4-Star General (Ret'd) Barry R. McCaffrey, Adjunct Professor of International Affairs, United States Military Academy (USMA) West Point, as outlined in an "After Action" Report following visits to Nellis and Scott Air Force Bases 14-17 August, 2007."
Submission of this RFP, we believe, demonstrates confidence in the world's premier aircraft builder, the potential of restored financial sector equilibrium within 12-18 months, and the capability of this advanced airplane to take a lead role in the permanent air augmentation of US industrial base global supply chain as outlined in our business plan," said Myron D. Stokes, Managing Member.
Will Forever Change Acquisition, Production and Congressional Approval Process While Restoring Financial Equilibrium
Chicago – 8/26/09. In another addendum to its June 25, May 31, 2009 and 2007/2006 press releases, Global HeavyLift Holdings, LLC, a Florida incorporated and Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) listed (www.ccr.gov/) entity with principal offices in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, is clearly indicating that continued Boeing C-17 production is inextricably linked to its business strategies. Principals also believe funding for this superlative airlifter is not the issue; rather, it’s the process.
“Budgetary constraints, with due respect, exist only in the minds of those in the public and private sector who are at best disingenuous in their claims of continuing attempts to rein in spending. A true and viable solution exists that will forever change Department of Defense acquisition processes, and it’s designated Transformational Recapitalization,” says Myron D. Stokes, Managing Member.

The Commercial Application of
Military Airlift Aircraft (CAMAA) Program:
Observations and Recommendations
Prepared For:
Hon James G. Roche
Secretary of the Air Force
Synopsis:
With the end of the Cold War, Congress has mandated that the U.S. Air Force reduce its
fleet costs. Nevertheless, the needs of the nation and the missions for the Air Force
are increasing along the entire war-peace spectrum. In an effort to creatively
address this concern, the Air Force has created a Commercial Application of Military
Airlift Aircraft (CAMAA) program that is described in this paper. An alternative
approach to cost reduction is also described.

The Commercial Application of
Military Airlift Aircraft (CAMAA) Program:
Observations and Recommendations
Prepared For:
Hon James G. Roche
Secretary of the Air Force
Synopsis:
With the end of the Cold War, Congress has mandated that the U.S. Air Force reduce its
fleet costs. Nevertheless, the needs of the nation and the missions for the Air Force
are increasing along the entire war-peace spectrum. In an effort to creatively
address this concern, the Air Force has created a Commercial Application of Military
Airlift Aircraft (CAMAA) program that is described in this paper. An alternative
approach to cost reduction is also described.

In the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center Towers, and the inability of First Responders to effect a rescue of any victims above the aircraft impact points, the SKYSCRAPER EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM or IN-S.E.R.T., strategy was crafted with colleagues within academia, industry and government. Formulated with input from key members of the Detroit Fire Department, inclusive of the late General Manager Weylin Gildon, and the Chicago Fire Department, IN-S.E.R.T. was designed as a means to effectively rescue disaster victims trapped in historically inaccessible areas. In this case, the upper floors of a burning high-rise, while using off-the-shelf firefighting technology and modified first response rescue methodologies structured to epitomize operational simplicity. Moreover, it is to serve as a global first response template to be utilized by emergency teams in multiple countries benefitting from strict protocols of cooperation/collaboration.
IN-S.E.R.T. teams, strategically based around the world and equipped with Boeing C-17 Globemasters modestly modified for this mission, would be capable of responding to any emergency, anywhere.
This paper was presented to 18 Argonne National Laboratory scientists and 2 FEMA representatives for review on 18 October, 2001.

Ford F150 Named Truck Of The Decade By Automotiveaerospace Industry Website Gt Is Performance Car Of 2005
1. FORD F-150 NAMED TRUCK OF THE DECADE BY AUTOMOTIVE/AEROSPACE
INDUSTRY WEBSITE; GT IS PERFORMANCE CAR OF 2005
2004 Chicago Auto Show
Chicago. – February 4, 2004 eMOTION! REPORTS.com, an automotive/aerospace industries
research and analysis site (www.emotionreports.com) that targets professionals within the academic,
media, corporate and government sectors, announced the second phase of its annual vehicle awards
program which now includes aerospace. Categories include Car of The Year, SUV of The Year,
Technological Achievement of the Year and special awards in both categories.
quot;In September, we named Cadillac CTS/CTS-V as Car of The Year 2003/04; Lincoln Aviator as
SUV of The Year 2003, Toyota Prius as Technological Achievement of 2003/04, Bombardier’s
Global Express as Business Jet of The Decade and Boeing’s superlative Globemaster III as Airlifter
of The Decade, quot; said Publisher Myron D. Stokes, an award-winning journalist/analyst formerly with
Newsweek, Newsweek International and Newsweek Japan.
quot;We are pleased to announce at the Chicago Auto Show, recognized internationally as one of the
premier automotive industry events, that Ford’s 2004 F-150 is named Truck of The Decade and
Ford GT as Performance Car of 2005. The first question that will no doubt come to mind is why, in a
veritable sea of great competition,
F-150 can be designated as such? I think it best to let our awards committee answer the query, who
note that ‘…F-150 is the best selling truck in the world and has been for a significant time period.
The assumption was it would be difficult to continue that level of success with a new design -- and
the consumer acceptance uncertainty that goes along with same -- amidst a plethora of excellent,
competing designs.
‘What inspired this committee to grant Truck of The Decade status to F-150 is the fact that, besides
stellar design and engineering attributes, not the least of which is the 3 valve-per-cylinder, variable
camshaft Triton 5.4L V-8 powerplant, exclusive to segment outboard rear shock absorbers and new
levels of integrated passenger safety systems, it is the first Ford product built utilizing the new
simplified Flexible Manufacturing process now in place at five plants. This reality guarantees future
F-150 model introductions at much reduced investment than the competition and improves cost
competitiveness. Moreover, standardization of flexible tooling and equipment and operating
procedures improves manufactured quality and operating cost. These factors will allow F-150 to
maintain its leadership throughout this decade and beyond.
‘An in-depth investigation of the system by our team revealed the critical importance of this process.
‘We are also aware of the role played by several key manufacturing executives, inclusive of Abid
Ghuman and John Fleming, who, under the direction of Jim Padilla, pioneered and shepherded the
acceptance, assimilation and utilization of a process that stands above and apart from that of
presumed similar systems at Toyota, Honda and GM.
‘It can be said that these two Ford corporate components, F-150 and cell-based flexible body shop,
are at the epicenter of an emergent, identifiable and sustainable Ford revitalization. And, when
joined by Ford 500, will provide unstoppable momentum.
‘It is clear that the implementation of this truly generic process designed for easy conversion to
accommodate any product, will impact on Ford's bottom line near, mid and long term. It also seems
to have been a bit under sung. This is not to say that there wasn't significant coverage, it's just that it
was presented as the latest in a long line of minimally supportable flexible manufacturing claims.
2. ‘Nothing is further from the truth.
‘According to Ford's own annual report, it expects to save upwards of 2 billion in 8 years. These
figures are based on 70 percent implementation at present, and will grow considerably beyond this
with total, system wide, usage. It goes without saying that Ford will experience the profitability
benefits of improved model frequency through model change affordability.
quot; The beauty of it is that Ford will never have to truly ‘re-tool’ in the traditional sense; only product
specific components have to be changed. Furthermore, the process used existing technology which
was subsequently enhanced. Indeed, cost containment was and is the order of the day.
‘The short story is, that by conferring Truck of The Decade accolades on F-150, we are
acknowledging its place, and the process that builds it, in Ford's turnaround.
‘The eMOTION! REPORTS.com awards committee commends and applauds the extraordinary
efforts of the F-150 design, engineering and manufacturing teams, and most importantly, the
results.’quot;
The award was presented Ford Division President Steve Lyons today during the Chicago Auto Show
Media Preview.
quot;Product excellence is what it’s all about in this business and awards like eMOTION! REPORTS’
‘Truck of the Decade’ and ‘Performance Car of the Year’ mean a lot to us because they validate
what our customers are telling us,quot; said Steve Lyons, Ford Division president.
Ford GT
In naming Ford GT Performance Car of 2005, Stokes noted that the fact of a GT having been sold at
a charitable auction helped qualify the vehicle for what may be perceived as an advance award. quot;In
yet another example of Ford's strong efforts to maintain its position and preserve its place in
automotive history, the company is reintroducing its legendary LeMans winning GT. The car's
performance specifications speak for themselves, which will grant the 2005 GT an ability to achieve
terminal velocities and a level of vehicular athleticism on par or exceeding the world's best exotics.
But we aren't presenting an award for such -- high performance is a given -- we are instead
acknowledging the fact the company understands the GT’s unique place in the annals of
automobiledom. That the committee choose GT for several reasons other than performance is borne
out by their comments in stating ‘…The re-introduction of GT grants Ford this special award for
corporate vision, acknowledgement of brand historicity and legacy perpetuation. This is best
expressed in a recent historical analysis of the company’s much acclaimed efforts at LeMans which
we desire to share with all concerned: quot;Perhaps Ford’s most important motorsports victory of all
time was Henry’s defeat of Alexander Winton in 1901, but the company’s international fame in the
post World War II era is anchored by LeMans. That first 1964 finish – seventh place behind six
Ferraris – planted the cornerstone for a progression of LeMans success never equaled before or since
by a major automobile manufacturer.
quot; The breakthrough year was 1966 when the cars placed 1,2,3 at LeMans. In 1967, Foyt and Gurney
scored their famous victory with the 7-liter Mk IV. A few years later, the FIA permitted 5-liter
quot;productionquot; cars, and believe it or not, the boys in Great Britain massaged their Ford GT road car
production numbers enough to qualify. John Wyer organized the Gulf team and scored a few more
long distance – and LeMans – wins with the Ford GT’s in the original five-liter configuration.
quot; The Ford GT is a car that has won so convincingly over an extended time span that it leaves no
doubt of its significance in racing history. In its wisdom, and in celebration of its centennial and rich
racing heritage, Ford has resurrected the name and the car itself.quot; ‘The committee believes that
3. many share similar sentiments, and we congratulate Ford Motor Company management for their
courage in approving the GT project.’
quot; Both the new F-150 and the Ford GT super car are generating excitement among our customers
leading into a very big year for new Ford products, quot; said Lyons.
Internet Ranking, eMOTION! REPORTS.com and quot;SUV of The Yearquot;
Notably, the Internet ranking of eMOTION! REPORTS.com is significant: A Google search on quot;suv

the year awardquot; returned 52,000 results with e!R placing first.
The awards of F-150 as Truck of The Decade and Ford GT as Performance Car of 2005 were
produced by Quality Metal Images of Troy, Michigan, and who were also responsible of
eMOTION! REPORTS.com first awards presented in 2002 to Ford for Thunderbird, Land Rover for
2003 Range Rover – acknowledged as quot;first in the worldquot; for this legendary SUV -- and GM for
