And you also were included in Christ
when you heard the message of truth,
the gospel of your salvation. When you
believed, you were marked in him with
a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who
is a deposit guaranteeing our
inheritance until the redemption of
those who are God’s possession—to
the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 1:13-14
The Holy Spirit is God’s guarantee that we
belong to him and that he will do what he
has promised. The Holy Spirit is like a
down payment, a deposit, a validating
signature on the contract. The presence of
the Holy Spirit in us demonstrates the
genuineness of our faith, proves that we
are God’s children, and secures eternal life
for us. His power works in us to transform
us now, and what we experience now is a
taste of the total change we will
experience in eternity. LIFE
That Christ died for our sins
according to the scriptures, and
that he was buried, and that he
was raised on the third day
according to the scriptures
For as long, then, as that promise of
resting in him pulls us on to God’s
goal for us, we need to be careful
that we’re not disqualified. We
received the same promises as those
people in the wilderness, but the
promises didn’t do them a bit of
good because they didn’t receive the
promises with faith.
Hebrews 4:1-2 The Message
Say the welcoming word to God—“Jesus is
my Master”—embracing, body and soul,
God’s work of doing in us what he did in
raising Jesus from the dead. That’s it.
You’re not “doing” anything; you’re simply
calling out to God, trusting him to do it for
you. That’s salvation. With your whole
being you embrace God setting things
right, and then you say it, right out loud:
“God has set everything right between him
and me!”
Romans 10:8-10 The Message
Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every
spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in
Christ. For he chose us in Christ before the
foundation of the world that we may be holy
and unblemished in his sight in love. He did
this by predestining us to adoption as his sons
through Jesus Christ, according to the
pleasure of his will–to the praise of the glory
of his grace that he has freely bestowed on us
in his dearly loved Son.
(3-6)
In him we have redemption through his blood, the
forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches
of his grace that he lavished on us in all wisdom and
insight. He did this when he revealed to us the secret
of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set
forth in Christ, toward the administration of the
fullness of the times, to head up all things in Christ—
the things in heaven and the things on earth. In
Christ we too have been claimed as God’s own
possession, since we were predestined according to
the one purpose of him who accomplishes all things
according to the counsel of his will so that we, who
were the first to set our hope on Christ, would be to
the praise of his glory.
(7-12)
And when you heard the word of truth
(the gospel of your salvation)–when you
believed in Christ–you were marked with
the seal of the promised Holy Spirit, who
is the down payment of our inheritance,
until the redemption of God’s own
possession,to the praise of his glory.
