1) An 11-year-old boy named Trevor comes up with an idea called "Pay It Forward" for a school assignment where people can help others without expecting anything in return to make positive change in their community. 2) Trevor helps several people as part of his idea, including a homeless man named Jerry and his classmate Arlene. However, his efforts are not always successful and face challenges from doubters. 3) Eventually, Trevor's teacher Mr. Chandler tracks down the origins of a growing "Pay It Forward" movement in the community to Trevor, but sadly Trevor is fatally stabbed while defending a friend from bullies.

3. Trev’s schoolmate who always gets his butt beat up by the school’s bully. When Trevor tries to help him, he gets killed. Adam Trevor’s dad, he also has a drinking problem. He abandonates Trev and his mom frequently, but then comes back and he’s mean to them. Ricky He pays forward by giving his Jag to Chandler and makes him intererest in the pay it forward thing. Jaguar man A thief who tells Chandler how he got involved with pay it forward. Sidney An addict and a bum, he was the 1st person Trevor helped. Later he tries to pay forward to Arlene and tries to save a lady who’s about to commit suicide. Jerry A reporter who works in amagazine. When he got payed forward he decided to investigate about the whole story. Chandler Trevor’s teacher, he gave him the assignment of imagining something to change his community. He has burns in his face. He has deep daddy issues. Mr. Simonet Trevor’s mom. She has a drinking problem, has 2 jobs: one as a waiter in a night club and the other one in a casino. Chandler’s car gets hit by another car and a rich guy arrives and gives him his Jaguar and he only says: “pay it forward” We go 4 months back and we see Trevor starting his 1st day at seventh grade at his school. In social studies, Mr. Simonet gives the class an assignment: to do somethin big to change their community in order to change the world. Trevor’s mom is working at a night club as a waitress and calls him to know bout his 1st day of school. Trevor thinks of his homework and comes with an idea: to pay it forward. Riding his bike way home, he goes by a dumpster and sees Jerry, the bum. He then brings Jerry to his home and gaves him food and his savings so Jerry can get a job but his mom discovers him and kicks him out.

6. Jerry comes back to pay it forward by fixing Arlene’s truck. Arlene goes to see Mr. Simonet and asks him about the assignment. Jerry uses drugs again and lets Trev down, so he helps Mr. Simonet instead, to get in a relationship with his mom. Trevor and his mom fight so he runs away from home and Mr. Simonet helps his mom to find him. Arlene and Eugene start dating but then Trevor’s dad returns and things get messed up. Eugene tells Arlene how he got his face burned and tells her he doesn’t want the same happens to Trevor. Trevor tries to help Adam when he’s being beat up by the bullies but he craps out and leaves him alone.

7. Chandler is still investigating about the whole favor chain thing by talking to the Jag man who lead him to Sidney, who lead him to the old lady. After he failed to Trevor, Jerry is walking on a bridge an sees a woman trying to commit suicide and asks her not to. When Ricky resumes his abusive behavior, Arlene realizes her mistake and asks him to leave again. Chandler finally identifies Trevor as the originator of "pay it forward" and conducts a recorded interview in which Trevor describes his hopes and concerns for the project. Eugene, hearing Trevor's words, realizes that he and Arlene should be together. As Eugene and Arlene reconcile with a passionate embrace, Trevor is stabbed while defending a friend against a group of bullies, and he consequently dies at the hospital. Eugene and Arlene are soon visited by hundreds of people who have participated in the "pay it forward" movement, gathering in a vigil to pay their respects to Trevor.
