“Defining what it means to be a hero has been a source of controversy for centuries. What
began as men of legend has come to describe those who are brave” . (The Hero Project | Defining
a Hero - Cronkitezine. Since my childhood, I was dreaming about heroic characters. I was looking
for heroic qualities in today’s heroes. Several points come into my mind to express the hero’s
qualities. First, he must be intelligent, second he must be brave and third he must believe in
himself that he can do it.
Regardless of how handsome and charming the hero is be an intelligent and he has to be able
handle every critical situation. His wise decisions and wise judgments should solve the problem.
For example, “The King’s Speech movie “is also about a king’s ability to really a nation to take it
to war. Although, King was suffering of a speech problem, he proved himself as a wise and
intelligent leader who takes right decisions about his nation. Another example, Celebrity, Bill
Walton who was reserved young man but he was an intelligent person. He always successful in
the classroom and on the basketball court. His intelegancy empowered his athletic abilities and
in all deficiencies and made him grow as a famous athletic. Now I want to share my life story. I
was a shy and reserved person. I was intelligent student but I could not speak in front of our
class made. I was always break words in my conversation. But work on it through listening
radios and speaking in front of mirror which helps me to solve my problem. Now I am able to
speak in front of classmates for any topic and situation. Speaking therapy make me strong and
confident .I feel more confident and brave just like a hero in a movie.
Brave decision and taking risks is the main quality of a hero. For example, the movie, “The
King’s Speech” which is based on real life story of British King who was struggling to speak.
Many times he faced anger, pain, and humiliation and doubted about his ability to speak. But
bravely he dealt his stuttering problem. For example, King’s wife hired a speech therapist that
worked hard with the king and boost his confidence to overcome stuttering problem. In the
movie, there are many Seans which showed the King handling his problems with a therapist
bravely. Speech therapist said, “no one is born stammering “. That means you can control your
problems bravely and overcome of your fears. Dance with fear then fear will never come over
your personality. Brave people always take risk and believe in himself which makes you a hero.
Hero must believe in himself. Without giving up always tried to handle things in positive
manners. Hard work makes you strong and shapes your personality as a hero. For example, In
the movie, “The king speech “actor Colin Firth ,who plays the future King, reveals the King’s
internal feelings and also believes in himself, but still stutters in his personal life many times.
Albert (Colin Firth), tells the therapist his stuttering started when he was forced to change left
hand to right hand. Therapist used his techniques, but it does not work. Also Albert’s (King) wife
Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter) did not give up, she force the therapist to work with her

2. husband. She believes that her husband can overcome his fear through speech therapy. Finally,
King wife found Lionel Logue and convinces Albert(King) to visit him. She believed in Albert that
he can control his stuttering and be king in the world. This belief made Albert strong and a
fearce King if he failed his nation fails. After speech therapy he changed. He was confident. His
big challenge was to test his leadership in the war through his speech. He is a leader and real
King in the world .Believing in yourself boosts your confidence and self esteem. For example,
Bill Walton, who is a famous celebrity in athletic world . He always believes in himself even
though he was shy and reserved man, but he believed in himself. He believes,” communication
skills are not a gift or a birthright “. We need to discipline our lives to work hard and practice
you can do it. In the movie, “The king’s speech” Albert King , delivers a nearly flawless speech.
Albert is brimming with confidence. He is a changed man. He has overcome on his fearful
punishment. He proved himself is a leader and England king.
In short, The King movie is a family movie which reveals effects to overcome on fear and
become a real hero. Appreciation and courage makes a hero. Endless efforts and continuous
hard work is way makes you hero regardless of only personality.
