Engineering students use 3D CAD models to develop and communicate their designs. A study observed how students in a mechatronics capstone class used 3D models in their design presentations. The study found that students increasingly rely on imagery from 3D models rather than text alone. Students used the models to illustrate concepts and create marketing materials, and some 3D printed parts. The models allow students to visually demonstrate their designs to stakeholders in a realistic yet simplified way.
I am pursuing masters in Industrial Engineering. During the course of my degree I have taught many concepts of Industrial Engineering and I am confident that I can apply all the concepts in real time environment. With the great knowledge of Fundamentals of 6 sigma, statistics, MRP, JIT and Deterministic Optimization, I am confident to apply those concepts for production procedures, production standards and costs. I have come from the mechanical background so I have pretty good knowledge about mechanical procedures and applying industrial concepts to enhance overall system. While working in industries, I realized the impact of applying industrial concepts in Industries. My knowledge is well defined and I take pride working in sync with people and resources at every stage of production cycle.
• Very enthusiastic and motivated individual pursuing Masters in Industrial Engineering, with looking to combine Theory and Practical knowledge.
• Actively seeking internship/ co. op opportunities.
• Having an experience in hand on quality assurance and Supply Chain Management.

Best practice in online reputation management for hotelsAvvio
The impact of online reviews and user-generated content has significantly impacted the travel industry, and it has never been more important to monitor and manage your reputation online. The hospitality industry needs to adjust the way they do business in order to benefit from this trend. In our November Avvio webinar we will cover a range of topics related to running an effective reputation management program for your hotels. Our guest presenter for this session is Josiah MacKenzie from ReviewPro
In New Product Development in the spring of 2011, we were assigned to work through the new product process to design a product and present it. After hundreds of ideas, we decided to pursue a food ordering app for smartphones because, let's face it, we're lazy and prefer to use a phone. This is our presentation.

As part of my decision modeling class, a group of us set out to apply the principles of modeling to an area that didn't immediately come to mind... a number of ideas came up ranging from efficient bike routes to stopping nuclear proliferation (although figured our emails back and forth may put us on a terrorist watch list and thus bailed on that idea). Instead we focused on producing a model that would tell us what plants to put where in a home garden using a cool color coded map - this is our presentation of results.

“From nearly every aspect of the oil & gas industry, there is no limitation to what we are finding our students in,” explains Brian Maitland. Maitland serves as the Academic Chair of the School of Design at PTI. With more than 25 years of experience in both the CAD industry and teaching students, Maitland demonstrates a particular enthusiasm about the opportunities he is finding for his students, specifically those in the oil & gas industry.
Collaborative 3D Modelling and Printing: What you See is not Directly What Yo...Farid Mokhtar Noriega
The aim of this collaborative 3D printing workshop is to define the production specifications, the teaching-learning pedagogical strategy aspects to help architecture students acquire: the basic competences of building representation, the pre and post processing of printing procedures (printing materials, paint, epoxy, accessories, etc...), defining the missing functions in BIM and Architectural Modelling software and determining the benefits of enhancing them for better 3D prototyping productivity. Two teams (A and B) adopted
specific working scenarios based on real world printing jobs. Team A worked on an in-house scenario and Team B on an outsourcing scenario. Tasks successfully completed showed: the wide range of prototypes that could be produced in an architectural studio and the need for a collaborative network to organize the knowledge and good practices developed by research teams (professional or academic) involved in developing rapid prototyping for architecture. This knowledge network could be a discussion forum and a development partnership of 3D printing manufacturers and CAD/BIM software developers.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

15. What are Engineering
Drawings?
• Orthogonal or two-dimensional plan,
profile, and section drawings are the
acknowledged carriers of engineering
product information.
• Isometric views are used in illustrations –
as pretty pictures – for maintenance and
operations manuals (Henderson 1999, pg
37).
16. What are Technical
Illustrations?
• Technical illustrations offer realistic or
semi-realistic views of an object or
process (Brasseur 2003, pg. 11).
• The goal, of course, in a technical
illustration is to convey information in a
realistic yet simplified view (Brasseur
2003, pg. 45).
21. Conclusion
• Data suggests that 3DCAD
provides a hybrid-genre that
crosses the professional
domains of Engineering and
Technical Communication

photo-realistic objects to persuade
stakeholders of design plausability
Editor's Notes
The rapid adoption of 3DCAD to communicate a variety of information may be observed throughout all forms of engineering. References to its use may be seen in design magazines and product catalogs. Manufacturers, and distributors are promoting their product availability through the provision of 3D models engineers need to complete their design. Some manufacturers feature these CAD files prominently on their website splash page as an enticement for potential customers. As this form of marketing communication evolves it may displace the conventional documents typically associated with technical communication.
This diagram traces the 3D object as it’s used as a mediating artifact between the various stakeholders and institutions as students learn to organize their engineering data in a persuasive and effective manner. As this diagram shows, there are multiple stakeholders in the activity system associated with the student presentations. This system is bounded and structured by the rules of the engineering community and the student’s aspiration to take their place in the engineering ranks as a professional.

In their exploration of 3D objects used for rhetorical purposes in collaborative engineering, Hisarcikilar and Boujut developed a continuum model measuring differences between icons and symbols based on Pierce’s typology of signs.
I’ve expanded the granularity of H&R continuum to include the default expressions of Solidworks.
