Keith Rupert Murdoch was born in 1931 in Melbourne, Australia. He is an Australian-American media mogul and the founder of News Corporation. Murdoch attended Geelong Grammar School and later studied politics at Oxford University. After inheriting a small publishing house from his father, Murdoch grew his media empire through acquiring newspapers and television companies across Australia, the UK, and the US. Today, News Corporation owns newspapers, book publishing companies, film studios and cable television networks around the world. Murdoch remains the company's executive chairman and its largest shareholder.
