capture of that energy to do useful work – for example,
electricity generation, water desalination.

5. Advantages
 Green
Harnessing wave energy comes without
the emission of harmful green house
gases.
 Renewable
Like with most green energy sources,
wave power is also renewable.
Disadvantages
 Environmental Effects
Power farms on shore that are visible
from land may cause conflicts with
tourism and local acceptance.
 Costs
Wave power is in very early stages of
development, which makes speculating
on costs harder.

6. Geothermal energy is thermal energy generated and stored in
the Earth. Thermal energy is the energy that determines the
temperature of matter.

 Almost entirely emission free
 Zero carbon
 The process can scrub out sulfur that
might have otherwise been released
 No fuel required (no mining or
transportation)
 Not subject to the same fluctuations as
solar or wind
DISADVANTAGE
 Prime sites are very location-specific
 Prime sites are often far from
population centers
 Losses due to long distance
transmission of electricity
 Water usage
 Sulfur dioxide and silica emissions
