Task, Condition, and Standards TASK:   To perform a search of an EPW, recognize the 5 S’s, and what is meant by them. CONDITION:   Given a block of instructions, a demostration, and  reference material from FM 7-8. STANDARD:   To correctly perform a search of a EPW, and answer Check on Learning questions correctly, and be able to discuss the 5 S’s  and distinguish between each. RISK ASSESSMENT LOW

Start from Head to Foot Inspect any area susceptible to  hiding important information: - Head, Kevlar, Collar - Underarms - Waist Line, Crotch - Inner leg, Ankles * Inspect equipment if time permits. SEARCH 1 st  TMCA
Enemy Personnel Wrong   Right Company Perimeter Segregate 1 st  TMCA Ensure to segregate between: - Rank - Sex - Military Association Male, Female,  Enlisted, Officer, Army, Navy Males Females Enlisted Officers Army Navy
1 st  TMCA Silence Keep the prisoners silent and ensure they are unable to  communicate with each other. Useful Techniques: - Blindfold - Zip Tie Hands - Cover Mouth with Handkerchief - Zip Tie Feet

1 st  TMCA Safeguard - All personnel are entitled to safety when in the  care of any military unit. Personnel who are in your custody are also  entitled to having certain items safeguard by you or allowed to keep on themselves. Items prisoners are allowed to keep: - personal items *  Religious Items *  Family Pictures *  Medical Aid Equipment
