Philip Heckmann, Jake Penolio, Erick Albuquerque and Bosko Novovic all had amazing volleyball careers and what a spectacular way to have a senior sends off in style. The largest crowd showed of the season showed up for the epic battle.<br />Graceland made the trip down for the great showdown of volleyball. The Graceland Yellow Jackets defeated the Pirates earlier in the season and gave the need for some much needed revenge. A very loud and energetic audience helped motivate the team for a crushing victory.<br />“These guys can play, and when we have a crowd like we did tonight, they can be unstoppable,” says Interim head Coach Brett Ferguson. <br />Four sets is all it took, and the Pirates blasted Graceland back to Iowa in style, 25-17, 21-25, 25-21, 25-19.<br />Ferguson kept his senior core in the majority of the time. Allowing his spectacular core place a crushing defeat against a conference rival and the last game these guys will play at the Breckon Sports Center.<br />Jake Penilo had an attack percentage of .400 with eight kills and three digs. Erick Albuquerque had 14 kills and six digs against The Yellow Jackets. Phillip Heckmann 43 assists and three service aces that ricocheted across the court, creating confusing for Graceland. Bosko Novovic had his usual strong match with 11 kills and an attack percentage of .450 and six digs. <br />The Pirates got a brief break before they head up to Dubuque, Iowa for the Clark University Invitational. The Pirates are expected to do quite well and should be moving into the conference finals. <br />
