Welcome to our webinar on Enabling Rapid Label Change.
My name is Maureen Perroni, I’m the Marketing Communications Manger at Loftware, and I’ll joined today by Josh Roffman, the Vice President of Product Management at Loftware. Josh has over 20 years of product management experience focusing on the impact of supply chain trends on enterprise labeling. He frequently speaks at industry events and webinars and has authored a wide range of published articles on Enterprise Labeling and meeting customer and regulatory specific requirements. (If you’re interested you can take a look at any of his articles please feel free to visit the Loftware In the News section under Company Page on the Loftware corporate website.)
The format for today’s webinar is a standard Q & A with Josh. We will stick to the 30 minute timeframe, so unfortunately we won’t have time for your questions. However, please feel free to send them in to us and we will follow up with you afterward.
In this webinar, we will review how dynamic, data-driven labeling can assist companies in enabling rapid label change and in producing mass label changes. We’ll cover separate areas within this topc:
What is dynamic, data-driven labeling and why is it important to change labels dynamically to enable rapid label change
Why standardization and centralization is important to achieve the benefits of labeling
How dynamic, data-driven labeling is critical to enabling consistency and simplifying label changes across a global supply chain
How dynamic, data-driven labeling can help with global operations in the supply chain
And, are there specific industries, which would benefit most from this approach to labeling?
MP: Josh – can you tell us when we talk about making barcode labeling changes quickly – why is dynamic, data-driven labeling so important?
JR: (Dynamic, data-driven labeling - what is it and why is it important?)
• In today’s fast paced global supply chain it’s critical to be able to respond to customer requirements quickly and efficiently on a global scale.
• Failing to do so in a timely fashion results in dissatisfied customers and loss of business.
• Without implementing a labeling approach that enables rapid label change globally, companies are forced to maintain countless permutations of labels.
• This results in more expense in maintaining labels and a lack of consistency.
• Enterprise Labeling which offers centralized dynamic, data-driven labeling allows companies to limit the number of label permutations and increase supply chain efficiency throughout their global operations.
Without it:
• Countless label permutations
• Increased maintenance and cost
• Lack of consistency
MP:
Ok so today we’ve hear a bit about standardizing on a single labeling platform, as well as the importance of centralizing data for labeling but Josh can you tell us “Why is so important to Standardize and Centralize to Achieve all the Benefits of a truly efficient labeling platform?”
MP:
So now that we’ve reviewed the benefits of standardizing and centralizing can you tell us a bit more about how dynamic, data-driven labeling is critical to enabling consistency and simplifying label changes across a global supply chain?
MP:
Obviously consistency and flexibility is incredibly important in managing an efficient labeling platform and as you mentioned offering control to business users enables a great deal of opportunity and time saving for businesses. Now, can you tell us specifically how this helps with global operations in the supply chain?
MP:
So Josh we’ve covered a lot about what exactly dynamic, data-driven labeling is and how is can help your business, but are there any specific industries which would benefit most from this approach to labeling? And if so, can you tell us which ones and what the added value is for them?
MP:
Thanks Josh - That last answer concludes the portion of our presentation about enabling rapid label change with dynamic, data-driven labeling but all heard Josh mention Enterprise Labeling quite a few times throughout the presentation so we thought it would be helpful to outline not only what exactly makes up an Enterprise Labeling Solution but what are the benefits of this approach – why is it so important in managing and effective and efficient supply chain?
So, it’s first important to note that in general, businesses today are beginning to take a more standardized approach and respecting the importance that labeling plays in the supply chain. With that, companies are understanding they need to develop a labeling strategy alongside their supply chain strategy.
Enterprise Labeling integrates labeling processes with business processes to standardize mission-critical labeling. So this is a dynamic, data-driven approach which allows businesses to react to evolving customer, regional, and regulatory requirements and empowers business users to quickly and efficiently design and maintain barcode labels. It also ensures consistency across a global supply chain enabling companies to meet performance and scalability requirements with the power and flexibility to support complex, global and high volume labeling requirements.
Ultimately, implementing an Enterprise Labeling Solution offers business flexibility, scalability and high throughput to seamlessly meet customer requirement. This helps companies minimize supply chain issues, meet evolving regulatory demands, and improve responsiveness. It also foster collaboration and ensures that both labeling and production uptime is maintained to enable a continuous flow of goods to customers without interruption. This can be done by switching labeling production from one location to another to avoid potential disruption.
