I recently completed a Lynda Certification on Logistics Foundations. I created this presentation to show the bottom line knowledge that I learned. Please feel free to share any feedback!
2. Understanding Order Fulfillment
• To fulfill a customer order, the steps required are having the inventory
capacity, payment from the customer, and the delivery of the
product.

efficiently acquire and deliver the goods to the customer
4. What Is Logistics
Logistics is a component of Supply Chain Management that is
responsible for the efficient flow (forward and reverse) and storage of
goods.
5. Outbound Logistics
• Outbound logistics is when a finished good gets delivered to the
customer or to a retailer when customers can purchase it from.
6. Inbound Logistics
• Inbound logistics is responsible for delivering parts, and components
to the factories to be assembled into finished goods.
7. Growing Importance of Reverse Logistics
• Due to an ever-changing market, changing regulations, and change in
customer tastes, wants, and needs, reverse logistics is becoming more
important than ever.

must weigh the pros and cons of all the choices available, and select

and split them up into smaller portions to be delivered to different
retail facilities.
12. Information Flow Management
• In order to make informed day-to-day and long term logistics
decisions, information systems and information sharing are critical.
13. Controlling Inventory
• Some inventory last longer than others so it is important to know how
to manage different types of inventory in order to be efficient and
sustain demand.
14. Integrating Logistics Into Supply Chain
• Logistics and Supply chain are complementary to one another
because logistics help efficiently fulfill order within the supply chain.
15. Bullwhip Effect
• The bullwhip effect happens when customers irregularly buy in bulk,
resulting in the company reacting and buying extra inventory, which
leads to a surplus of that product.
16. Impact On Company Performance
• Without the proper logistics in place a company will not perform
efficiently and will likely lose money; whereas with proper logistics
practices in place, a company will run efficiently, satisfy its customers
and make a profit.
17. Managing Returns
• Due to e-commerce and the need to satisfy customers, companies
have be more accepting of returned goods.
18. Shifting to Regional Supply Chain
• Shifting a regional supply chain allows a company to have products
available locally to its customers, which in turn decreases
transportation costs.
19. Managing Customer Requirements

and needs will be the most successful.
