Welcome
The emcee needs tobeginthe program by welcoming everyone and asking
everyone to “please rise for the Presentationof Colors and National Anthem.”
Presentationof Colors
As soon as the Colors are in posted, and the Honor Guard are at attention, the
National Anthemshouldbegin.
“The Star Spangled Banner”
Following the National Anthemthe emcee asks everyone to be seatedand
thanks the Honor Guard and the band.
Pledge of Alligence
Lead by the emcee

If there is music the emcee will introduce the groupand the director
performing. Following the conclusionof the music, the students inthe band
and/or vocal group can be dismissed.
Thank you to the band/vocal group and their director.
Message fromPresident
Introduce the individual who is going toread the PresidentsVeterans Day
message.
A thank you shouldbe extendedto the individual whoreadthe President’s
message.
Introduce the students who will be reading the history of Veterans Day.

The “Honor a Veteran”program shouldbe explainedandwhat the students
were askedto do for the program. The students are thendirectedtostandand
remainstanding during the reading of all their veteran’s names. Any veterans
attending are alsoasked tostand whentheir name is read.

Presentationof Veterans
The student’s name is readalong withthe veteran’s name, whichbranch of the
ArmedServices they servedor are serving in(if known), where they servedare
serving in(if known) and what war, if any, they servedin. The relationshipto
the student is alsoacknowledgedif known.
Following the reading of ALL the names of veterans the students want to
acknowledge, thenthe participating teacher’s veterannames are read.
The audience is askedfor a round of applause as a thank you to all veterans.
