Mary expresses her joy and praise for God, proclaiming his greatness and mercy. She acknowledges that God has looked upon her with favor as a lowly servant and done great things for her. All generations will call her blessed. God shows strength by scattering the proud, casting down the mighty, and lifting up the lowly. He fills the hungry with good things and sends the rich away empty, as he remembers his promise to help his people Israel.
