Top 10 Dos and Don’ts
Do
• Make sure it’s the right person.
• Use a concise and specific subject
line.
• Get straight to the point – keep it
fairly short.
• Be courteous
• Use a strong closing line.
Don’t
• Use CAP LOCKS LIKE THIS.
• Write anything
private/confidential over email.
• Write anything whilst
angry/drunk - anything you
wouldn’t want your boss to see.
• Forget to PROOFREAD –
spelling, grammar, typos.
• Rely on spellcheck.

They may be rare but they can catch you out…
Email scam is an unsolicited email that claims the prospect of a
bargain or something for nothing.
Some scam messages ask for business, others invite victims to a
website with a detailed pitch.
Examples include :-
• Phishing
• Advance-fee fraud
• Online-dating scam
• Traffic-ticket scam
• Investment Schemes
• Bank scams

• Keep your password secure and safe
• Avoid including personal/sensitive information where possible
• Be wary of all attachments and links
• Use an anti-virus software that has e-mail scan features
• Password-lock your device(s)
• Hire an expert

How to keep your emails professional
• No Hotmail/BT emails- looks unprofessional
• Email Signatures – always selling/uplift, social icons
• Good provider – Office 365/Outlook
• Hire a technical expert

How to make the most of them

• Timing for best engagement
• Powerful headings
• Strong opening line
• Relevant content – make them click
• Clear, effective design
• Good use of images (but not overdone)
