About the Department
Electrical Engineering has a very valuable heritage of teaching and research.
In Electrical Engineering, there is growing awareness that the future training and education
of Electrical Engineers.
The primary objective of the department has been to impart quality education,
training and research at the undergraduate level in various areas of Electrical Engineering
with broad emphasis such as Integrated Electronics and Circuits, Tele-communications,
Computer Technology, Control & Automation, Power Systems & Power Electronics.
The lab facilities and the infrastructure are regularly upgraded and developed and are well
maintained to the needs of Corporate world.
The dedicated staff members have sound knowledge in emerging areas like
embedded systems, power electronics applications in power systems, expert systems, etc.
The faculty of the department continuously carries out research on latest technologies and
regularly publishes in many top international journals.
The breadth and depth of the research interests of the academic staff ensures a high
standard of lecture courses and provides excellent opportunities for challenging and
stimulating final year projects. Individual lecturers supplement their delivery using
blackboards, overhead projectors and video projection.
The Electrical Engineering Department holds several national level conferences,
seminars and workshops.
VISION
To produce competent Electrical Engineers by imparting quality education to meet the industry
requirements and for serving the societal needs
MISSION
•
To develop appropriate facilities for promoting research activities
•
To inculcate leadership qualities among students for self and societal growth
•
To nurture students on emerging technologies for serving industry needs through industry institute
interface
•
To enrich teaching learning process by transforming young minds to be resourceful engineers
PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)
•
The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) for the Electrical Engineering program describe
accomplishments that graduates are expected to attain within five to seven years after graduation
•
To enable graduates to pursue research, or have a successful career in academia or industries
associated with Electrical Engineering, or as entrepreneurs
•
To provide students with strong foundational concepts and also advanced techniques and tools in
order to enable them to build solutions or systems of varying complexity
•
To prepare students to critically analyze existing literature in an area of specialization and ethically
develop innovative and research oriented methodologies to solve the problems identified
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POs)
The graduates of Electrical Engineering will be able to:
1. To improve Engineering knowledge: Syllabus was modified to include topics that apply the knowledge of mathematics, science,
engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems. Attainment is quite high
and near to target value set.
2. More Problem analysis based topics in syllabus: Subjects included more topics to Identify, formulate, review research literature, and
analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and
engineering sciences. This helped in achieving more attainment of PO2.
3. Real life application based Design/development of solutions: More emphasis is given to Design solutions for complex engineering
problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public
health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations. Clearly result is reflected in the attainment of PO3.
4. Syllabus included Conduct of investigations of complex problems: Attainment of PO4 has shown use of research-based knowledge
and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide
valid conclusions has been increased in comparison to previous year attainment.
5. Modern tool usage: Latest software are used to enhance technical knowledge like MATLAB, PSCAD etc. techniques like Simulink
modelling are included to knowledge of students.
High attainment of this PO shows that we have succeeded in our goal.
6. Emphasis given to the engineer and society: However not many subjects matched to this PO but we were able to achieve a higher
value of attainment in this PO also.
7. Environment and sustainability: Syllabus included more understanding the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal
and environmental contexts and need for sustainable development. Attainment is reflected in PO attainment matrix.
8. Ethics based knowledge included: Application of ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of
the engineering practice included in the syllabus of few subjects. Clearly a rise in the attainment in PO8 can be seen.
9. Courses including Individual and team work: In order to function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse
teams, and in multidisciplinary settings, many courses like seminar project1 project 2 helped a lot to achieve a higher value of attainment
in this PO also.
10. Communication based knowledge: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and
with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective
presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
Higher value of attainment is achieved in this PO also.
11. Project management and finance based courses: subjects related to project helped a lot to achieve higher value of attainment in this
PO.
12. Life-long learning process: 100% attainment is achieved in this PO by including subjects that are directly related to life-long learning
process.
PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOME (PSOs)
After the successful completion of B.Tech programme in Electrical Engineering, the
graduates will be able to
•Apply science, engineering, mathematics through differential and integral
calculus, complex variables to solve electrical engineering problems.
•Demonstrate proficiency in use of software & hardware to be required to
practice Electrical engineering profession.
•Use the concepts of Electrical Engineering to design and implement Machine

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POs) Thegraduates of Electrical Engineering will be able to: 1. To improve Engineering knowledge: Syllabus was modified to include topics that apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems. Attainment is quite high and near to target value set. 2. More Problem analysis based topics in syllabus: Subjects included more topics to Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences. This helped in achieving more attainment of PO2. 3. Real life application based Design/development of solutions: More emphasis is given to Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations. Clearly result is reflected in the attainment of PO3. 4. Syllabus included Conduct of investigations of complex problems: Attainment of PO4 has shown use of research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions has been increased in comparison to previous year attainment. 5. Modern tool usage: Latest software are used to enhance technical knowledge like MATLAB, PSCAD etc. techniques like Simulink modelling are included to knowledge of students. High attainment of this PO shows that we have succeeded in our goal. 6. Emphasis given to the engineer and society: However not many subjects matched to this PO but we were able to achieve a higher value of attainment in this PO also. 7. Environment and sustainability: Syllabus included more understanding the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and need for sustainable development. Attainment is reflected in PO attainment matrix. 8. Ethics based knowledge included: Application of ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice included in the syllabus of few subjects. Clearly a rise in the attainment in PO8 can be seen. 9. Courses including Individual and team work: In order to function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings, many courses like seminar project1 project 2 helped a lot to achieve a higher value of attainment in this PO also. 10. Communication based knowledge: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions. Higher value of attainment is achieved in this PO also. 11. Project management and finance based courses: subjects related to project helped a lot to achieve higher value of attainment in this PO. 12. Life-long learning process: 100% attainment is achieved in this PO by including subjects that are directly related to life-long learning process.
