1. Ekev 1st Aliyah (Deu 7)
12 And it shall be, because you will hear these right-rulings and
guard and do them, that โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim shall guard with you
the covenant and the kindness which he swore to your fathers.
2. Ekev 1st Aliyah (Deu 7)
13 And he shall love you and bless you and increase you. He
shall bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your landโ
your grain and your new wine and your oilโthe increase of
your cattle and the offspring of your flock in the land which he
swore to your fathers to give you. 14 You will be blessed above
all peoples; there will be no barren man or barren woman
among you or among your livestock.
3. Ekev 1st Aliyah (Deu 7)
15 And โซืืืืโฌ shall remove from you all sickness and he will not
put on you all of the evil diseases of Mitsrayim which you have
known, but he shall put them on all who hate you. 16 And you
shall consume all the peoples whom โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim will
deliver to youโyour eye shall not pardon them, nor shall you
serve their gods, for that would be a snare to you.
4. Ekev 1st Aliyah (Deu 7)
17 If you should say in your heart, โThese nations are greater
than I. How will I be able to drive them out?โ 18 You shall not
be afraid of them; you shall well remember what โซืืืืโฌ your
Elohim did to Pharaoh and to all Mitsrayim.
5. Ekev 1st Aliyah (Deu 7)
19 The great trials which your eyes saw, and the signs and the
wonders, the strong hand and the outstretched arm, by which
โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim brought you out. So will โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim do
to all the peoples of whom you are afraid. 20 Moreover, โซืืืืโฌ
your Elohim will send the tzir'ah against them, until those who
are left and those who hide themselves from you perish.
6. Ekev 1st Aliyah (Deu 7)
21 You shall not be terrified of them, for โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim is in
your midst, the great and awesome El. 22 And โซืืืืโฌ your
Elohim shall drive out those nations before you, little by little.
You will not be able to destroy them quickly, lest the beasts of
the field would grow too numerous for you. 23 But โซืืืืโฌ your
Elohim shall deliver them to you, and will destroy them with
great destruction until they are consumed.
7. Ekev 1st Aliyah (Deu 7)
24 And he shall give their sovereigns into your hand, and you
shall destroy their name from under the heavens. No one will
be able to stand against you until you have destroyed them. 25
The carved images of their gods you are to burn with fire; you
shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for
yourselves, lest you be snared by it, for it is an abomination to
โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim.
8. Ekev 1st Aliyah (Deu 7-8)
26 You shall not bring an abomination into your house, lest you
be accursed like it, but you shall utterly loathe it and utterly
hate it, for it is an accursed thing.
1 Every mitzvot which I command you today you shall guard to
do, that you may live and increase and go in and possess the
land of which โซืืืืโฌ swore to give to your fathers.
9. Ekev 1st Aliyah (Deu 8)
2 And you shall remember that โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim led you all the
way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and
prove you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would
guard his mitzvot or not.
10. Ekev 1st Aliyah (Deu 8)
3 He humbled you, allowed you to hunger and then fed you with
man, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, so
that he would make you know that man does not live by bread
alone, but by every Word that comes from the mouth of โซืืืืโฌ
does man live. 4 Your garments did not wear out upon you, nor
did your foot swell these forty years.
11. Ekev 1st Aliyah (Deu 8)
5 Thus you shall know in your heart that as a man disciplines his
son, so โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim disciplines you.
6 Therefore you shall guard the mitzvot of โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim, to
walk in his ways and to fear him. 7 For โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim is
bringing you into a good landโa land of streams of water, of
fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills;
12. Ekev 1st Aliyah (Deu 8)
8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees, and
pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; 9 a land in which
you eat bread without scarcity, in which you will not lack any
thing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you
can dig copper.
10 And you shall eat and be satisfied, and you shall bless โซืืืืโฌ
your Elohim for the good land which he has given you.
13. Ekev 2nd Aliyah (Deu 8)
11 Be careful that you do not forget โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim by not
guarding his mitzvot, and his right-rulings, and his laws which I
command you today. 12 Otherwise, when you eat and are
satisfied, and build lovely houses and lived in them; 13 and
when your herds and your flocks increase and your silver and
gold increase and all that you have is increased,
14. Ekev 2nd Aliyah (Deu 8)
14 then your heart will become proud and you will forget โซืืืืโฌ
your Elohim who brought you out from the land of Mitsrayim,
out of the house of bondage. 15 He led you through the great
and awesome wilderness, with its fiery serpents and scorpions
and thirsty ground where there was no water; he brought water
for you out of the rock of flint.
15. Ekev 2nd Aliyah (Deu 8)
16 In the wilderness he fed you man, which your fathers did not
know, in order to humble you and in order to try you, to benefit
you in the end. 17 Otherwise, you may say in your heart, โMy
power and the strength of my hand have made this wealth for
me.โ 18 But you shall remember โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim, for it is he
who gives you power to get wealth, in order to establish his
covenant, which he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
16. Ekev 2nd Aliyah (Deu 8)
19 And it shall be, if you by any means forget โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim
and follow other gods and serve them and bow yourself before
them, I testify against you this day that you shall certainly
perish. 20 Like the nations which โซืืืืโฌ makes to perish before
you, so you will perish, because you will not obey the voice of
โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim.
17. Ekev 2nd Aliyah (Deu 9)
1 Hear, O Isra'el: You are passing over the Yarden today to go in
to dispossess nations greater and stronger than yourself, cities
great and walled up to the heavens. 2 A people great and tallโ
the sons of the 'Anakim, whom you know and of whom you
heard it said: โWho can stand before the sons of 'Anak?โ
18. Ekev 2nd Aliyah (Deu 9)
3 You shall know today that โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim is he who is
passing over before you as a consuming fire. He will destroy
them and subdue them before you. So you shall drive them out
and destroy them quickly, as โซืืืืโฌ has said to you.
19. Ekev 3rd Aliyah (Deu 9)
4 Do not say to yourself, after โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim has driven them
out before you, โBecause of my righteousness โซืืืืโฌ has
brought me to possess this land,โ but it is because of the wrong
of these nations that โซืืืืโฌ is driving them out before you.
20. Ekev 3rd Aliyah (Deu 9)
5 It is not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of
your heart that you go in to possess their land, but it is because
of the wrong of these nations that โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim drives
them out from before you, in order to establish the word which
โซืืืืโฌ swore to your fathers, to Avraham, Yitz'chak and Ya'akov.
21. Ekev 3rd Aliyah (Deu 9)
6 Know, then, it is not because of your righteousness that โซืืืืโฌ
your Elohim is giving you this good land to possess, for you are
a stiff-necked people.
7 Remember, do not forget how you provoked โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim
to wrath in the wilderness. You have been rebellious against
โซืืืืโฌ from the day that you left the land of Mitsrayim until you
came to this place.
22. Ekev 3rd Aliyah (Deu 9)
8 Also in Horev you provoked โซ,ืืืืโฌ and โซืืืืโฌ was so enraged
with you that he would have destroyed you. 9 When I went up
to the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of
the covenant which โซืืืืโฌ had made with you, then I stayed on
the mountain forty days and nights; I neither ate bread nor
drank water.
23. Ekev 3rd Aliyah (Deu 9)
10 โซืืืืโฌ gave me the two tablets of stone written by the finger of
Elohim, and on them were all the Words which โซืืืืโฌ had
spoken with you at the mountain from the midst of the fire on
the day of the assembly. 11 It came about at the end of forty
days and nights that โซืืืืโฌ gave me the two tablets of stone,
the tablets of the covenant.
24. Ekev 3rd Aliyah (Deu 9)
12 Then โซืืืืโฌ said to me, โArise, go down from here quickly, for
your people whom you brought out of Mitsrayim have acted
corruptly. They have quickly turned aside from the way which I
commanded them; they have made a moulded image for
themselves.โ 13 โซืืืืโฌ spoke further to me, saying, โI have seen
this people, and indeed, it is a stiff-necked people!
25. Ekev 3rd Aliyah (Deu 9)
14 Let me alone, that I may destroy them and blot out their name
from under heaven; and I will make of you a nation stronger
and greater than they.โ 15 So I turned and came down from the
mountain while the mountain was burning with fire, and the two
tablets of the covenant were in my two hands.
26. Ekev 3rd Aliyah (Deu 9)
16 And I saw that you had indeed sinned against โซืืืืโฌ your
Elohim. You had made for yourselves a moulded calf; you had
turned aside quickly from the way which โซืืืืโฌ had commanded
you. 17 I took hold of the two tablets and threw them from my
hands and broke them before your eyes.
27. Ekev 3rd Aliyah (Deu 9)
18 I fell down before โซ,ืืืืโฌ as at the first, forty days and nights; I
neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sin
which you had committed in doing what was evil in the sight of
โซ,ืืืืโฌ to provoke him to anger. 19 For I was afraid of the rage
and hot displeasure with which โซืืืืโฌ was wrathful against you
in order to destroy you, but โซืืืืโฌ listened to me that time also.
28. Ekev 3rd Aliyah (Deu 9)
20 โซืืืืโฌ was angry enough with Aharon to destroy him; so I also
prayed for Aharon at the same time. 21 I took your sinful thing,
the calf which you had made, and burned it with fire and
crushed it, grinding it very small until it was as fine as dust; and
I threw its dust into the stream that came down from the
mountain.
22 And at Tav'erah, and at Massah and at Kivrot-HaTa'avah you
provoked โซืืืืโฌ to anger.
29. Ekev 3rd Aliyah (Deu 9)
23 And when โซืืืืโฌ sent you from Kadesh-Barnea, saying, "Go up
and possess the land which I have given you," then you
rebelled against the mouth of โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim, and you
neither trusted him nor listened to his voice. 24 You have been
rebellious against โซืืืืโฌ from the day I knew you.
30. Ekev 3rd Aliyah (Deu 9)
25 So I fell down before โซืืืืโฌ the forty days and the forty nights
that I had fallen down; because โซืืืืโฌ had said he would
destroy you. 26 And I prayed to โซ,ืืืืโฌ and said, "O Master
โซ,ืืืืโฌ do not destroy your people and your inheritance whom
you have redeemed in your greatness, whom you have brought
out of Mitsrayim with a strong hand.
31. Ekev 3rd Aliyah (Deu 9)
27 Remember your servants Avraham, Yitz'chak and Ya'akov. Doฬฑ
not look at the stubbornness of this people or at their
wickedness or their sin.
32. Ekev 3rd Aliyah (Deu 9)
28 Lest the people of the land from which you brought us will say,
โBecause โซืืืืโฌ was not able to bring them to the land which he
had promised them, and because he hated them, he has
brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.โ 29 But they are
your people and your inheritance, whom you brought out by
your great power and your outstretched arm.โ
33. Ekev 4th Aliyah (Deu 10)
1 At that time โซืืืืโฌ said to me, โChisel out for yourself two stone
tablets like the first ones and come up to me on the mountain.
Also make a wooden ark for yourself. 2 I will write on the
tablets the Words that were on the first tablets, which you
broke. Then you shall put them in the ark.โ 3 So I made an ark
of acacia wood and chiseled out two stone tablets like the first
ones, and I went up on the mountain with the two tablets in my
hand.
34. Ekev 4th Aliyah (Deu 10)
4 He wrote on the tablets, like the first writing, the Ten Words
which โซืืืืโฌ had spoken to you on the mountain, out of the
midst of the fire, on the day of the assembly. Then โซืืืืโฌ gave
them to me. 5 Then I turned and came down from the mountain
and put the tablets in the ark which I had made, and there they
are, as โซืืืืโฌ commanded me.
35. Ekev 4th Aliyah (Deu 10)
6 (The sons of Israโel traveled from the wells of Bโnei-Yaโakan to
Moserah. There Aharon died and there he was buried, and
Elโazar his son served as cohen in his place. 7 From there they
traveled to Gudgod and from Gudgod to Yotvatah, a land with
rivers of water. 8 At that time โซืืืืโฌ set apart the tribe of Levi to
bear the ark of the covenant of โซ,ืืืืโฌ to stand before โซืืืืโฌ to
serve him and to bless in his name, to this day.
36. Ekev 4th Aliyah (Deu 10)
9 Therefore, Levi does not have a portion or inheritance with his
brothers; โซืืืืโฌ is his inheritance, as โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim
promised him.) 10 And I stayed on the mountain forty days and
nights, like the first time, and โซืืืืโฌ listened to me at that time
also. And ADONAI did not wish to destroy you.
37. Ekev 4th Aliyah (Deu 10)
11 And โซืืืืโฌ said to me, โArise, proceed on your journey ahead
of the people, so that they may enter and possess the land that
I swore to their fathers to give them.โ
38. Ekev 5th Aliyah (Deu 10)
12 Now, Israโel, what does โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim require of you? Only
to fear โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim, to walk in all his ways and love him,
and to serve โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim with all your heart and with all
your being, 13 and to guard โซ'ืืืืโฌs mitzvot and his laws which I
am commanding you today for your good. 14 Behold, to โซืืืืโฌ
your Elohim belong heaven and the highest heavens, the earth
and all that is in it.
39. Ekev 5th Aliyah (Deu 10)
15 Yet on your fathers did โซืืืืโฌ set his affection to love them, and
he chose their descendants after them, even you above all
peoples, as it is this day. 16 So circumcise your heart, and
harden your neck no longer. 17 For โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim is the
Elohim of gods and the Master of masters, the great, the
mighty, and the awesome El who does not show partiality nor
take a bribe.
40. Ekev 5th Aliyah (Deu 10)
18 He executes right-ruling for the fatherless and the widow, and
shows his love for the stranger by giving him food and clothing.
19 So show your love for the stranger, for you were strangers
in the land of Mitsrayim. 20 You shall fear โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim;
you shall serve him and cling to him, and you shall swear by
his Name.
41. Ekev 5th Aliyah (Deu 10-11)
21 He is your praise and he is your Elohim, who has done these
great and awesome deeds for you which your eyes have seen.
22 Your fathers went down to Mitsrayim seventy beings in all,
and now โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim has made you as numerous as the
stars of heaven.
1 You shall therefore love โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim, and always guard
his Charge, his laws, his right-rulings, and his mitzvot.
42. Ekev 5th Aliyah (Deu 11)
2 Know this day that I am not speaking with your sons who have
not known and who have not seen the discipline of โซืืืืโฌ your
Elohimโhis greatness, his strong hand and his outstretched
arm; 3 and his signs and his works which he did in the midst of
Mitsrayim to Pharaoh the sovereign of Mitsrayim and to all his
land;
43. Ekev 5th Aliyah (Deu 11)
4 and what he did to Mitsrayimโs army, to its horses and its
chariots, when he made the water of the Sea of Suf to engulf
them while they were pursuing you, and โซืืืืโฌ completely
destroyed them; 5 and what he did to you in the wilderness
until you came to this place,
44. Ekev 5th Aliyah (Deu 11)
6 and what he did to Datan and Aviram, the sons of Eliโav the son
of Reโuven, when the earth opened its mouth and swallowed
them, their households, their tents, and all the possessions at
their feet, among all Israโel. 7 But your own eyes have seen all
the great work of โซ,ืืืืโฌ which he did.
45. Ekev 5th Aliyah (Deu 11)
8 You shall therefore guard every mitzvah which I am
commanding you today, so that you may be strong and go in
and possess the land into which you are about to cross to
possess it, 9 and so that you may prolong your days in the land
which โซืืืืโฌ swore to give your fathers, to them and their
descendants, a land flowing with milk and honey.
46. Ekev 6th Aliyah (Deu 11)
10 For the land which you are going in to possess is not like the
land of Mitsrayim from which you have come, where you
sowed your seed and watered it by foot, as a vegetable
garden. 11 But the land into which you are about to cross to
possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinks water from
the rain of heaven,
47. Ekev 6th Aliyah (Deu 11)
12 a land which โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim looks after; the eyes of โซืืืืโฌ
your Elohim are always on it from the beginning of the year to
the end of the year.
13 And it shall be that if you diligently obey my mitzvot which I
command you todayโto love โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim and to serve
him with all your heart and with all your beingโ
48. Ekev 6th Aliyah (Deu 11)
14 then I shall give you the rain for your land in its season, the
early rain and the latter rain, and you shall gather in your grain,
and your new wine and your oil. 15 And I shall give grass in
your fields for your livestock, and you shall eat and be satisfied.
16 Beware, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn away and
prostrate yourselves before them.
49. Ekev 6th Aliyah (Deu 11)
17 And the displeasure of โซืืืืโฌ shall be kindled against you, and
he shall shut up the heavens, and there will be no rain and the
land will not give its increase, and you shall perish quickly from
the good land which โซืืืืโฌ is giving you. 18 And you shall fix
these Words of mine upon your heart and upon your being,
and shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be
as frontlets between your eyes.
50. Ekev 6th Aliyah (Deu 11)
19 And you shall teach them to your sons, speaking of them
when you sit in your house and when you walk along the way,
and when you lie down and when you rise up. 20 And you shall
write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,
21 so that your days and the days of your sons may be
multiplied on the soil which โซืืืืโฌ swore to your fathers to give
them, as the days of the heavens remain above the earth.
51. Ekev 7th Aliyah & Maftir (Deu 11)
22 For if you guard all these mitzvot which I command you to do
themโto love โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim, to walk in all his ways and to
cling to himโ 23 then โซืืืืโฌ shall drive out all these nations
from before you, and you shall dispossess nations greater and
stronger than you.
52. Ekev 7th Aliyah & Maftir (Deu 11)
24 Every place on which the sole of your foot treads will be yours:
from the desert and the L'vanon, and from the river, the River
Euphrates, and until the Western Sea, will be your border. 25
No man shall stand up before you. โซืืืืโฌ your Elohim shall put
the dread of you and the fear of you on all the land upon which
you tread, as he has spoken to you.
