BSED-2A MAJOR IN FILIPINO
Adoption of the Civil code of the
Philippines
(Republic act. No. 386)
Pervasive changes and
development have necessitated
revision of its provision on
marriage and family relations to
reflect contemporary trends and
development.
It was felt that there is a need to
implement policies embodied in
the new constitution (1981) that
strengthen marriage and the family
as the basic social institution.
Approved the family code of the
Philippines (Executive Order no.
209 as amended by Executive
Order no. 227)
The Roman Catholic Church
has consistently opposed the
legalization of divorce but
approved annulment under
certain conditions.

undertake and fulfill the

Availability of annulment
of marriage in our country
today.
The possible reason is..
The consensual marriage
and the
“Querida” system
Is a term used for a more or
less permanent relationship
between a man and a
woman…
Consensual marriage
…which as not been
sanctioned by a formal
marriage ceremony.
Consensual marriage…
Ceremonies like these are
sponsored by prominent
people who act a “ninong”
or “ninang”.
Consensual marriage…
• Consensual marriage is a
lower class pattern.
• Live in arrangement are
preferred among the upper and
middle class.
Consensual marriage…
Live in arrangement….
These are the single individual
who both have careers and
practice birth control to avoid
the responsibility of parenthood.
Live in arrangement….
The Catholic church cites this
as “new morality” as one new
reason for their objection to
the use of contraceptives.
Querida system
•The Querida is a woman who
engages in sexual relations with a
man on a exclusive basis, usually
in exchange for partial for total
financial support.
Querida system…
•It is result in a two family system
where a legal wife and legitimate
children share the husband with a
mistress and illegitimate
offspring.
The society condemns and
frowns upon extramarital
sex for women and
condone it for men.
Due to the new morality
where love is strong,
virginity, although preferred
is not considered absolutely
necessary.
Studies have shown that
women give themselves up to
their boyfriends only if
there's a promise of
marriage.
Among Filipinos,
permissiveness in premarital
affairs is understandable but
not extramarital infidelity.
Classification of
Extramarital Affairs
Extramarital affairs
1.The “querida”, number two, or
“Kabit” relationship which
involves some permanence,
exclusiveness, and economic
support.
Extramarital affairs…
2. The “girl friend” relationship
which implies more quality,
freedom to date other men, and
no economic arrangement.
Extramarital affairs…
3. The “party girl” or “fun girl”
relationship which simply
means occasional good times
for a fee.
Extramarital affairs…
4. The “love affair” which
blossoms unexpectedly between
business partners, teacher and
students, boss and secretary etc.
Because of the double standard
of morality, the incidence of
marital infidelity among wives
is rare but it is common among
husband.
Reasons why the querida
arrangement is on the
wane
Reasons why the…
1. Increased use of
contraception which lessen
the fear of unwanted
children.
Reasons why the…
2. Many single women have
their own jobs and do not have
to rely for support on the men
