This document discusses the author's personal learning network (PLN) that was developed throughout the semester. It provides examples of accounts and organizations that the author follows on Twitter to expand their PLN, including those focused on education resources, art, Canadian culture, and professional development for teachers. The author notes that their PLN and social media presence grew significantly over the course of the semester as they were introduced to new educational tools and their blog content expanded. Using Twitter and PLNs teach students to conceptualize, think, and write in 140 characters. Formatively assess students and reteach them to customize learning and ensure competence. This session will use tech tools to implement Common Core Standards, thereby meeting the "deliberate, fewer, clearer and higher" articulated skill set students need.

Shareholders pay considerable attention to the choice of executive selected as the new CEO whenever a change in leadership takes place. However, without an inside look at the leading candidates to assume the CEO role, it is difficult for shareholders to tell whether the board has made the correct choice. In this Closer Look, we examine CEO succession events among the largest 100 companies over a ten-year period to determine what happens to the executives who were not selected (i.e., the “succession losers”) and how they perform relative to those who were selected (the “succession winners”).
We ask:
• Are the executives selected for the CEO role really better than those passed over?
• What are the implications for understanding the labor market for executive talent?
• Are differences in performance due to operating conditions or quality of available talent?
• Are boards better at identifying CEO talent than other research generally suggests?

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Throughout the semester, my
PLN grew a lot. In
reference to my Twitter

number of pages and content
on my page as more modules
were completed.

semester, have provided me with
exceptional networking opportunities. I
tried to focus my Twitter account on my
areas of interest (art and Aboriginal

that could apply to Alberta classrooms.
Creating my PLN has been very helpful. I
had wanted to create something similar to
show future employers. Being able to
create my PLN with the course’s helpful
resources was an added bonus. I love how
I am able to share useful practices with
