4 Applications of Digital Twin in HealthcareTyrone Systems
In this space, we’ve been discussing the possibilities of using IoT applications to solve costs and revenue leakage for healthcare providers, and to streamline clerical tasks that can often reduce facetime healthcare practitioners have with their patients.
The power of IoT is truly realized when data from the real-world is securely transformed to the digital realm—this is commonly referred to as creating “digital twins.” By “instrumenting” the real-world to provide near real-time data, and by applying the powerful tools and methods of the analytical and artificial intelligence fields, digital twins can speed the creation of new and revolutionary healthcare IoT applications.
When a manufacturer implements smart manufacturing, the goal is often to streamline production. But smart manufacturing uses an array of different tools and processes to get the job done. To help you understand how it works, here are 5 smart manufacturing terms to know.
Digital Twin refers to a physical and functional description of a component, product or system together with all available operational data. This includes all information which could be useful in current and subsequent lifecycle phases. Benefit of it for mechatronic and cyber-physical systems is to provide the information created during design and engineering also at the operation of the system. The comprehensive networking of all information, shared between partners and connecting design, production and usage, forms the presented paradigm of next generation Digital Twin.
The walls of the data center are dissolving. Every device on the planet will eventually contain a computer, be connected to the net & be managed via intelligent software. IoT will change everything, especially how products are manufactured, sold & serviced. This presentation covers the impact that technology will have on society over the next 7 to 10 years.

Internet of Things (IOT) and Machine learning are new technology trends that are booming individually: we will look at how to combine these concepts and technologies by layering machine learning on top of IOT data and driving significant insights for clients via specific use cases like predictive maintenance. Let’s look at some state of the art use cases and subsequent benefits delivered in this space to dig deeper into the “art of the possible”.
In 2017, the World Economic Forum recognized the potential of advanced manufacturing technologies. In 2018, from among more than 1,000 examined production facilities, 16
companies were recognized as Fourth Industrial Revolution leaders in advanced manufacturing for demonstrating step-change results, both operational and financial, across individual sites. They had succeeded in scaling beyond the pilot phase and their sites were designated advanced manufacturing “Lighthouses”. In 2019, 28 additional facilities were identified and added to the network, which now provides an opportunity for cross-company learning and collaboration, and for setting new benchmarks for the global manufacturing community.
Lighthouses have succeeded by innovating new operating systems, including in how they manage and optimize business and processes, transforming the way people work and use technology. These new operating systems can become the blueprint for modernizing the entire company operating system; therefore, how they prepare for scaling up and engaging the workforce matters.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
