STAR THEORY
Ed Sheeran
MAIN CHARACTERISTIC
Ed Sheeran’s main
characteristic as a star is his
unique voice, as he is mainly
known for being one of
Britain's top music artists. For
example his most recent
album called “X” has sold
more than I million in the UK
since its release on June 20th
2014. His music can be
described by genre as folk or
acoustic and he plays most
songs on his own with just his
guitar.
PARADOX 1
Paradox 1 suggests that the star must be both ordinary and
extraordinary. Ed shows both as he can be seen as ordinary
as he used to play his music on street corners and is very
down to earth. However he is extraordinary in the sense that
he has such musical talent from his voice to his song writing.
PARADOX 2
Paradox 2 suggests that the star must be both present and
absent for the consumer in order to make the consumer want
to understand the star. Ed is both present and absent, for
example he is present at concerts such as his upcoming
concert at Wembley or appearing on TV programmes such as
“The X factor”. He can also be absent as he is not open
about his life as he is a quiet person, therefore he is only
present when he wants to be in order to create a demand for
the star persona he creates.
