Urie Beonefrebrenner was
a Russian born American
Psychologist who is most
known for his ecological
system theory.Which is
also known biological
system theory present
charlie development
weather in the context
relationship system that
comprises the child
environment.
Bioecological Theory
IT DESCRIBES MULTI
PART LAYER OF
ENVIRONMENT THAT
HAS AN EFFECT ON
THE DEVELOPMENT OF
CHILD. EACH LAYER IS
OTHER MADE UP OF
DIFFERENT
STRUCTURES.
Structure Of Bioecological Model
BRONFENBRENNER DIVIDED THE PERSON'S
ENVIRONMENT INTO FIVE DIFFERENT SYSTEM:
THE MICROSYSTEM, THE MESOSYSTEM, THE
EXOSYSTEM, THE MACROSYSTEM, AND THE
CHRONOSYSTEM. BECAUSE THE FIVE SYSTEM
ARE INTERRELATED 1 THE AFFLUENCE OF ONE
SYSTEM ON A CHILD'S DEVELOPMENT
DEPENDS ON ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE
OTHERS. CHANGES AT ANY LEVELS OF THESE
CAN AFF INFLUENCE COGNITIVE
DEVELOPMENT.
LAYERS OF BRONFRENBRENNER
BIOECOLOGICAL MODEL
1 . M A C R O S Y S T E M
The micro system is the most
influential level of the ecological
sysytem theory.This is the most
immediate environmental setting
containing the developing
child,such as
family,school,neighbourhood,or
chilcare environment
EXPLANATION
2 . M E S O S Y S T E M
The layer serves as relationship two or more
microsystem such as what is learned at
home culturally.This is called connection.
EXAMPLE: INTERACTION BETWEEN KIDS, TEACHERS, AND
PARENTS
INTERACTION BETWEEN FRIENDS AND SIBLINGS
INTERACTION BETWEEN NEIGHBORHOOD AND FAMILY
INTERACTION BETWEEN DAYCARE AND FAMILY
3 . E X O S Y S T E M
ENVIRONMENT THAT EFFECT HOW ONE DEVELOPS THAT
IS OUT OF THEIR CONTROL.THEY ARE CALLED INDIRECT
ENVIRONMENT.THIS LAYER REFER TO THE BIGGER SOCIAL
SYSTEM IN WHICH THE CHILD DOES NOT FUNCTION
DIRECTLY.
EXAMPLE:EXTENDED FAMILY MEMBER
MASS MEDIA
SOCIAL SERVICES,
LOCAL GOVERNMENT
PARENTS' WORKPLACE
FAMILY FRIENDS
4 . M A C R O S Y S T E M
IS A LARGE CULUTURAL AND SOCIAL STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS OF
THE ENVIRONMENT THAT SHAPE HUMAN DEVELOPMENT.
THEY ARE CALLED AS SOCIAL CULTURAL VALUES
ATTITUDES
LAWS AND LEGAL SYSTEMS
CUSTOMS
IDEOLOGIES
POLITICAL SYSTEMS AND POLICIES
NATIONALITY
EXAMPLE:
5 . C H R O N O S Y S T E M
BIG EVENTS IN THE WORLD THAT HELP PSYCHOLOGIST
UNDERSTAND THE AFFECT IT WILL IMPACT IN A PERSONS
DEVELOPMENT THROUGH TIME.
HISTORICAL EVENTS
ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES
PARENTS EMPLOYMENT STATUS
SOCIETAL ECONOMIC CHANGES
CHANGES IN FAMILY STRUCTURE
Example:
“THE INSTABILITY AND UNPREDICTIBILITY OF FAMILY LIFE IS THE
MOST DESTRUCTIVE FORCE TO CHILDS DEVELOPMENT”
THE ROLES OF SCHOOL AND TEACHER
BRONFENBRENNER'S THEORY
REMINDS THE SCHOOL AND THE
TEACHERS OF THEIR VERY
IMPORTANT ROLE.
IF THERE IS A LACK OF SUPPORT,
CARE AND AFFECTION FROM THE
HOME, IF THERE IS A SERIOUS
BREAKDOWN OF THE BASIC
RELATIONSHIPS IN A CHILD'S LIFE,
WHAT CAN THE SCHOOL, THE
TEACHERS IN PARTICULAR DO?
This theory helps teachers look into every child's
environmental system in order to understand more about
the characteristics and needs of each child, each learner.
The schools and the teachers can contribute stability and
long-term relationships, but only to support and not
replace the relationships in the home.
BRONFENBRENNER BELIEVES THAT, "THE
PRIMARY RELATIONSHIPS NEEDS TO BE WITH
SOMEONE WHO CAN PROVIDE A SENSE OF
CARING THAT IS MEANT TO LAST A LIFETIME.
THIS RELATIONSHIP MUST BE FOSTERED BY A
PERSON OR PEOPLE WITHIN THE IMMEDIATE
SPHERE OF THE CHILD'S INFLUENCE."
“SCHOOLS AND TEACHERS' CRUCIAL ROLE IS NOT TO REPLACE
THE LACK IN THE HOME IF SUCH EXIST, BUT TO WORK SO
THAT THE SCHOOL BECOMES AN ENVIRONMENT THAT
WELCOMES AND NURTURES FAMILIES. BRONFENBRENNER ALSO
STRESSED THAT SOCIETY SHOULD VALUE WORK DONE ON
BEHALF OF CHILDREN AT ALL LEVELS, AND CONSEQUENTLY
VALUE PARENTS, TEACHERS, EXTENDED FAMILY, MENTORS,
WORK SUPERVISORS, LEGISLATORS”
SUMMARY
BRONFENBRENNER'S ECOLOGICAL MODEL OFFERS A COMPREHENSIVE
FRAMEWORK FOR UNDERSTANDING THE MANY FACTORS THAT AFFECT
DEVELOPMENT. IN ADDICTION TO DESCRIBING THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF
INFLUENCE, THE ECOLOGICAL MODEL ALSO DESCRIBES THE DYNAMIC
INTERACTION THAT OCCURS BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT LEVELS, FROM
THE DIRECT RELATIONSHIPS AT THE MICROSYSTEM LEVEL THROUGH THE
BROADER SOCIETAL, CULTURAL, AND TEMPORAL FACTORS THAT PLAY A
ROLE.
UNDERSTANDING THESE INFLUENCES AND THEIR COMPLEX CONNECTIONS
IS IMPORTANT. BY DOING SO, PARENTS, EDUCATORS, SOCIAL PROGRAM
DEVELOPERS, AND POLICY MAKERS CAN GAIN GREATER INSIGHT AND
CREATE SUPPORTIVE INTERVENTIONS THAT FOSTER HEALTHY
DEVELOPMENT.
