The Facts Easter is a very important Christian holiday in America. It is always celebrated on a Sunday between March 22 nd  and April 25 th . This year Easter is on Sunday, April 24 th . During Easter week, many people go to church. Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a very serious, yet joyful time for Christians.
Easter Eggs Traditionally, children decorate chicken eggs with dyes and colors. Also, a more modern custom is to use chocolate eggs and plastic eggs filled with candies. The eggs represent ”new life” by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Easter Bunny The Easter Bunny brings baskets to the homes of children the night before Easter. Normally, the baskets are hidden around the house or in the yard. Also in the yard, the bunny hides colored eggs, candy and small toys for the children to find!
The Egg Hunt Children collect eggs, candy and toys in their baskets on Sunday morning .
Candy!!! These are typical Easter candies. At the top, you can see ”Peeps” which are marshmellows shaped like chicks. Also popular are chocolate bunnies and chocolate eggs filled with creme or caramel.
Easter Sunday On Sunday, families go to church and eat a large meal afterwards. Traditionally, women and children dress in light colored clothes. While men wear suits. A different way to say light colors is ”pastel colors”.
